![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | In my humble opinion, Nuance has the best voice recognition software available for Palm devices. However, it has three drawbacks (two of which are significant). First, it costs $6/month. There are other VR software apps that you pay one fee and you're done. Second, there is a considerable lag between the time you give your voice command to the time that it connects to the server and sends the electronic command back to your device. Often, by that time, you could've dialed the number manually a couple times. Finally, as with all voice recognition software, it is not 100% accurate and will sometimes give you the wrong number. When coupled with the second problem this can really be a pain. Nevertheless, you don't have to "train" it like you do with some of the other apps (like VoiceDialIt) and it is amazing how accurate it is given people's different tone, volume, slang, etc. The only time I really needed VR software was when I was driving, so I opted for Initiate Pro, which is a launcher that allows voice commands and a speaker phone that does the trick nicely and I have no monthly fees. If you use the trial of Nuance, be sure to delete the database if you choose not to buy it, as any further touch (accidental or otherwise) of the side key after the trial period will cause a reset. Good luck. Stu |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Just delete the app like you would any other, in the stock launcher (hit menu, then delete). Then when you reset, it will revert Nuance back to the compressed ROM file. By the way, if you don't like some of the useless apps that come pre-installed (in ROM), you can hide them using the freeware: Hide Applications Panel. Here is a link for it: Applications Panel 1.3 (for Palm OS) - mytreo.net/downloads After you install it, you will need to go into preferences to find it. Then simply open the Applications panel and just click on each file you want to hide. If its not a ROM file and you don't want it anymore, just delete it. Stu |
