Treo 650 Sync problems - Treo Forum

I just thought I would share my adventure with the hotsync problem.
Mine slowly began to miss about every other sync attempt. Then bang it just quit. I thought it was a driver problem or a USB problem. Turns out it was dirty contacts! Trust me on this one. They may look clean but they need a cleaning to get the device to sync. I was even getting the ole “device not recognized” messages. I am an aircraft mechanic and deal with this sort of thing all the time but I didn’t think it was dirty contacts in this case. I used electric contact cleaner. Be sure to cover the front of the phone so you don’t overspray the screen or keypad. I still have to do it about every third or fourth time to keep it clean. Hope this helps.

This is a great idea, a little scary to spray liquid onto a several hundred dollar device, but if it works.
