ActiveSync via Bluetooth on 700w

Has anyone got this to work? My computer assigns com 9 to the connection, but the Treo only allows me to assign ports 0,4,7 or 8. I need to be able to assign the computer to 0,4,7 or 8, or the Treo to 9.

My problem is similar to that described by 2000jim, but on my Treo it won't allow me to assign 7&8 as serial ports. I get "The COM port could not be created. Please check your settings and try again" when I try to configure an outgoing port. I can assign the port in ActiveSync (4.5), but not on the Treo (700WX).

I'd like to be able to connect using ActiveSync then use PdaNet to connect to the internet and avoid carrying around the USB cable. Anyone have any thoughts as to what I may be doing wrong.

Edit: Laptop is an IBM (Lenovo) T60 using internal Bluetooth adapter and Lenovo software. I can connect to the 700WX, but can't perform ActiveSync for the life of me. TIA

As stated in the title, I've got the Bluetooth Activesync Plugin and the version of Activesync 4.2 from the Getting Started CD of the Palm Treo 700w/wx.

Click on the TSG Computers link on the frontpage.

Register and then go to the Windows Mobile section of the Downloads area. The Bluetooth Plugin is under Updates and the version of Activesync is under Activesync.
