![]() ![]() | Wow eTrain is the only other person I've ever 'met' who recommends AVG. I love AVG (www.grisoft.com). It's the most under rated virus/spam/malware scanner out there. It's got a very small footprint, does exactly what it says on the tin and doesn't have all the bloatware and nonsense that comes with McAfee and Symantec products. Also, if you don't like it, you can uninstall it unlike McAfee and Symantec products which always leave a little something behind just to remind you that it was once installed. The Free version is fully featured and has a tiny footprint (a few dozen megs). ~ Steph

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I used to recomment AVG to home users/charities but had a few problems with it not picking up viruses, this was version 7.0, seems to be better now. I switched most of them to using Avast! which I still think is the best free AV program ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I use AVG on almost all systems. I agree with Steph, it's does just what it says, with little additional bloat. |

![]() | Try eset eset.com I have it all of my workstations, laptops and server. They have a version for smartphones. It has a small footprint (at least for the desktop / laptops) and I suspect that the same will apply for smartphones. |

![]() ![]() | Yeah I recently ran into the problem of someone catching a relatively old Trojan that somehow made it past AVG 8...might give Avast! a go. Regards Steph

But back to an early question in this thread, because it deserves an answer & never got one. Someone asked why run AV stuff if there's nothing in the wild for WM. My answer would be the same as those for myself & others running linux machines that connect to Win boxes -- to protect others. Just because there's nothing that will damage my Treo Pro doesn't mean that I can't be a conduit for something that might not be so friendly once it reaches any of the XP machines I connect to. That said, I haven't seen or heard of that happening yet. So I don't have AV software running on my phone. But that's another personal preference. ;-) | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You can't run Windows Mobile on the Treo 680, it only runs PalmOS. If you want Windows Mobile then you need to get a different device.
