![]() | Hi Eeveryone, I just joined the forum. I recently bought a 700w. After using standard POP3 email accounts for a bit, I switched over and began using Verizon's WirelessSync, which pushes POP3 email from 2 of my accounts to a new account specifically created for this purpose. Now, when the email is pushed to my Treo, it appears in the Outlook email client, as opposed to the Messaging app where I hadd previously configured my POP3 accounts. When I use the Outlook client now, the option to create folders under the Inbox is disabled (grayed-out). This had not been the case when I using the Messaging client. Does anyone know why this is the case? Is there anyway to create folders? Everything just sits in the Inbox now. Perhaps I'm misinterpreting something. Thanks in Advance, zero2fifty |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Any chance you have one of your settings changed to IMAP? This might cause some confusion in the program.

![]() | Hi - thanks for your reply; I'll tell you what I see. On the Treo, I cannot edit the parameters for Outlook email (email address, incoming server, etc.) as I can with standard POP3/IMAP accounts. If I open Messaging and try to edit (via options), my only selections are text messaging, MMS and new account. Nothing here applies to what is set in Wireless Sync. Now when I visit wirelesssync.vzw.com, I can see that both my source email accounts are POP3. So IMAP isn't used. Plus, there is no option to create folders. This is really odd. ... OK - I called Verizon Wireless Customer Service - one CANNOT add folders on a wirelesssync account. I thank you for your time in considering my question. As I see it, there isn't too much to be gained by using Wireless Sync. Yes, the email gets pushed down automagically to the device, but I could just as easily open Messaging on the Treo and connect as needed. I suppose the only advantage to wireless sync is the immediacy (as per your sync interval). |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | This is what I've been trying to figure out, but I'm a total neophyte. My company's email is off my domain, which is hosted by my web site hosting guys. I'm asking them whether my Treo (I'm getting a 750w) will synch with outlook such that: 1. If I action (reply, delete, FILE, etc....) on the Treo, then go to the desktop, will those actions also automatically get done on the desktop in Outlook? 2. What must I do (or do they have to get GOOD TECHNOLOGIES software on their email server and bill me $20/month?) to make this all happen? I literally cannot get a straight answer from GOOD (who says they don't sell their synch software to individual company-users, but only to email hosters, and by the way we just got BOT by Moto, so .... regarding Treo... who cares?) OR from my web site/ecommerce/email hosting guy...... Something about IMAP (?) Little help? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | IMAP synchronises the mail on the client i.e. PC or Treo with what's on the server so when you open, move, delete a message that change is reflected on the other mail clients. POP3, which is the normal message of mail retrieval, downloads the message from the server to the client. Once downloaded the message(s) will no longer be on the server so another client will not be able to download it/them. The down side to IMAP is because your messages stay on the server it can take a lot of storage, depending on how much email you keep.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | There is an option with POP3 to leave the messages on the server. I download my email on the go for viewing, but leave it on the server so I can transfer any important messages to another file.
