To coincide with the LinuxWorld conference taking place in San Francisco, ACCESS launched a new website and also some screenshots of its ACCESS Linux Platform (ALP) which helps to give us an indication as to what the future of Palms...

The Access Linux UI is sweet! I can't wait to see this on a treo. The interface is very sexy.

Also it seems that the UI is built for a keyboard and a keyboard-less phone. I'd love having a keyboard, but I'd like to see what Palm can do with a keyboard-less version of a treo. Make a much better phone than Apple did because the iphone sucks currently.

I don't think we can take much from this really, Palm are working on their own Linux based OS and will not be using ALP. Which will be better only time will tell

If it were possible for a UI to be sexy, that is it. I love the look of it. Now to port this OS to the 650!

Yes, put this on the 650... but I'm not sure the 650's hardware could handle it (and of course no wi-fi)

No Palm are developing their own Linux based OS. Palm aren't even listed as being a partner on Access's website.

well crap. I hope palm's OS loos as sweet as the Access one and has all the features that they're listing (either that or Palm should just use the access one)

Considering the amount of time and money Palm have invested in developing their own I doubt very much they'd drop it for someone else's OS

They want something they are completely in control of

We've got some idea of what to expect from the Foleo's OS, which no doubt has similarities to that being developed for future Treo's.
