This is the starter post for questions and issues to do with the Treonauts Newsletter.

Feel free to let us know problems and suggestions you may have and we'll try to help you or fix things at our end. Bear with us though there's not many of us here

Before you mention it, this is something we're looking at.

It's fairly complex and involves 'bridging' between the vBulletin db and the phplist db as well as providing a UI of sorts in the vBulletin UserCP to manage subscriptions - I think thats the best way but I'm open to suggestions or volunteers to help.

Then there's the Software and Accessories shop newsletters...

Todays mailing (Saturday October 6th 2006) was initially sent out with a buglet in the content that caused the page to expand beyond it's table size.

This was corrected and resent.

Lol... glad you liked the newsletters. Very glad in fact. We struggled for a long time to get the balance of content versus advertising right as well as the technology behind it.

We've been running in beta for a few weeks and slowly but surely ironing out the kinks.

As for testing products... well thats something we'd like to do ... watch this space...

A new weekly newsletter was launched today.

It rounds up the weeks new accessories on the Treonauts Accessory Store.

I am a newbie to the Treo brand & so far I am very happy with the product. However I am confused with this "Newsletter". Am I hyper sensitive, have I joined at the wrong time or are all the newsletters simply advertisements to sell me stuff??????

Where is the content that will help me get the most of my Treo? All I see are ads to purchase accessories or software.

Hi Mike,

There's a publishing time table behind all this. So let me explain...

During the week we publish the Treonauts Daily (which is almost daily) and is basically the blog post put into an email to save you having to do anything. You'll get it in your inbox about one to two hours after the post is published. Andrew usually writes 4-5 times a week, mostly reviews which i themselves have hint/tips for making the best use of your Treo but occasionally editorial/commentary on the biggest events in the Palm Treo world..

On Friday we publish a digest which is a round up (similar to the home page) of the first paragraph of the weeks posts.

On Saturday (this one is very new) we publish two software 'news' newsletters that basically list the 15 newest and 15 updated pieces of software (there's two newsletters because you're either PalmOS or WindowsMobile flavoured) together with a 20% off coupon.

[ In actual fact there's a bunch more software released and updated during the week than that but we have separate pages and feeds for those who really want to know all thats out there.]

On Sunday we publish the Hot New Accessories which are the weeks new Accessories this one is planned to include some very special bundle deals in the future just for us Treonauts.

Everytime a new newsletter is lauched we migrate existing Daily subscribers to the new newsletter.

The last two launched were Hot Accesories and the Software Newsletter but we'll soon be launching a News Newsletter (go figure) which will sit alongside the Digest and be more in line with the Treonauts Daily/Digest in terms of content.

We wanted the software/accessories newsletter because some people asked for them and it kind of fit with the opening of the Sunday newspapers somewhow.

Each subscriber has a unique page which lists their subscriptions. You can access this page from the link at the bottom of every newsletter.

You'll probably find you're subscribed to the Daily, Accessories and now Palm OS software newsletter. It's easy to unsubscribe if you feel they're not useful and we don't sell or pass on your emails, unsubscription is instant and you'll never receive another of those emails again unless you say so.

Lastly to get a flavour of the kind of content you're likely to receive through our (non-weekend) newsletters head over to blog.treonauts.com and puruse the archives.

If you joined on Friday afternoon and signed up to a bunch you would have missed the digest and the daily (in fact there wasn't one this Friday) and only received the Software and Accessories...

So I'm not surprised you thinking, what the hell...?

Sorry if you were disappointed with the content...at least now you'll recieve a full 4-5 content filled daily's before next weekend assuming you stay subscribed to the Accessories and Software ones...
