| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Treo 750 vs HTC 8525 Both phones are UMTS quadband. Treo is a little smaller. 8525 has a bigger screen the Treo has a Samsung 300 MHz processor, and the 8525 has a Samsung 400 MHz processor the treo has ???ram the 8525 has 64 MB RAM, 128 MB ROM Treo has no wifi, 8525 ha built in wifi treo has bluetooth version 1.2. 8525 has bluetooth 2.0 treos camera is 1.3 MP, 1280 x 1024 pixels, 8525 camera is 2 MP, 1600x1200 pixels with flash Treos battery is Standard battery, Li-Ion 1200 mAh. 8525s battery is Standard battery, Li-Ion 1350 mAh all in all i think the 8525 is going to be faster, 400 MHz compared to 300MHz, the 8525 will have a better camera (with flash) the 8525 will have a bigger screen. 8525 will have a newer version of bluetooth. i really like treo, but compred specs i think the 8525 will be much better. unless there is something i do not know! i mean 100MHz is a big difference in speed, and they are both using Samsung chips!!!! WILL SOMEONE PROOVE WHAT I THINK IS WRONG, BECAUSE I REALLY LOVE TREOS!!!! WILL SOMEONE PLEASE CHANGE MY MIND! THANK YOU, ERIC |

![]() ![]() | OK no need to shout. lol. There's soe annoucements coming soon like on the 12th October from Palm regarding new units. I don't get too excited about h/w these days mainly becuase unless the software keeps up there's very little point. By the time the software catches up the next gen of hardware gets released. Anyway, I would like a slimmer palm, my 700p is too heavy and thick when compared to other pda type phones out there. I really like it despite that. ~ Steph

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Had a play with a Vodafone v1605 yesterday, which is a rebadged HTC TynTn so similar to the 8525, have to say the little changes Palm have made to Windows Mobile 5.0 make a big difference. My 750v feels so much easier to use. Also the curved casing of the 750v feels nicer in the hand, although size wise they're almost identical.

![]() | I've owned the HTC TyTN & the i-Mate JasJam and now have the Treo 750v. The HTC Hermes is a better PDA but the Treo 750v is a better phone. If you are a heavy data/PIM user, go with the Hermes. If you like to use a device as a phone first / data device second, then go with the Treo. I like both devices. If you don't mind the lack of a touchscreen, try the HTC Excalibur (HTC s620; T-Mobile Dash etc). It's got WiFi and has a great screen and form-factor. |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | I fully agree with djinn comments; I have been using a dopod 838pro ( similar to HTC 8525) for 3 months before I switch to the Treo 750. I prefer the Treo as is more compact and its one-hand opeartion facilities is more suitable for me. I seldom use the slideout keyboard of the 838pro as i find troublesome and too much sliding in-out, quite apprehensive of its slide mechanism - keyboard loosening quite common complaints. Another point was its bulky What the Treo750 lacks is WIFI which one can overcome with the Spectec miniSD wifi card ( extra cost) Speed/response : bootup time of Treo very much faster than the dopod 838pro ( at least by 20 secs). Performance - both about same but I noted the Treo is more responsive esp on dialing functions. The Treo dialing options overwhelm the dopod 838 pro and it beats it flat without competition I noted also the usable memory storage on Treo750 was 63MB vs 44 mb for the Dopod 838pro for basic units without 3rd party software. That's a lot of difference for me |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | I have an 8525. Here are the pros/cons: pros: Great 2MP camera w/flash and macro mode hi-res screen wi-fi built in PTT (when cingular activates it) cons: it's big. no actual keys to dial the phone w/out using the keyboard (this means i can't dial the phone without looking at the screen) Not having actual keys is annoying- that's the #1 reason i'm considering returning it and getting the Treo 750. wi-fi doesn't work all that well Also, as benny said, the keyboard catches are starting to come loose (and i've only had it for a few days.) |
