Getting the 4GB SD to Work

Has anyone had any luck getting their 700p working with a 4GB SD yet. I just purchased the Sandisk 4GB miniSDHC. My Treo recognises it initially on insertion. But when I try to do anything. It dissapears.

Any insight would be greatly appreaciated

You sure it was a miniSDHC? It couldn't have been a mini SD card, because that wouldn't fit properly. If it was a standard SDHC card, then I'm not sure that's compatible with the Treo.

I have a high speed Samsung 4gb card, I had issues with the 700w where it would just go crazy and lock up but no issues whatsoever with the 700p.

Dane-Elec 4GB

I have the Dane-Elec 4Gb. I got it so I can put TOMTOM Navigator 6 and all my pics, mp3s and a movie or two plus my cardbackup backups.

Sadly my 700p has difficulty recognising either on initial insert. If it finds it then it looses it after entering sleep mode and I have to eject and replug it.

That aside it's also damn damn sloooowwwww. TOMTOM's card that came with the bundle deal is fast and always works but TOMTOM on the Dane-Elec crawls to a halt when doing any searching (which is does all the time during an address entry or zip code entry).

I wouldn't buy the Dane-Elec 4GB for Treo purposes and probably not for camera purposes either.

Dane-Elec homepage claims about 3MB/s their cards as compared with 22.5MB/s for a 150x card which would place the Dane-Elec card around 20x for those doing comparisons. Sadly those performance figures are convieniently left off product descriptions of the card.

I might be wrong about the figures so correct if you think otherwise.

I've known PQI for a long time now. They make great ram.

Is TOMTOM super fast on that card? Curious because it's slow on my 2gb and impossible on my 4gb (if I can ever get that card to work).

Ok guys,

I got a lead I think is worth following.. it kinda makes sense actually.

It's starts with benchmarking the cards. I found VFSMark which is a freeware benchmarking tool that still works on our Treos.

Then figuring out the cluster size my cards is formatted for. They're fat32 so it should be something in the range of 4k through 32k... I'l check it with Partition Magic or Disk Director tomorrow.

I suspect part of the issue with my Dane-elec apart from the silicon itself if the cluster size.

I"ll give it shot changing at and post back my benchmarks in the morning.. sleep time now .

Ok Steph ... I've downloaded VFSMark and took the existing card with a variety of mp3 and jpg on it. You'll have to tell me what the numbers are indicating but here's my results running on my Palm Treo 700p:

"MyFlash" 4GB 150x SD Card
