Aluminium Cases

Anyone using an aluminum case for their 700? I currently have a crystal plastic case on mine right now but I would like something better. However, I want to have access to things.

I have found these:

Saunders Mfg Co > Palm > Treo 700 Aluminum

YOUNG MICRO PALMONE TREO 650 / 750 PDA ALUMINUM CASE W/ REMOVABLE BELT CLIP + 12V RAPID CAR CHARGER / PCMicroStore

Anyone using either? Anyone using something else?

Your thoughts and advice is much appreciated.

My experiences...

I've used a pair of aluminum cases (both from shop.treonauts.com), first the Monaco Aluminum Open Keyboard then the Smartphone Experts HC1 Hard Case, and both have survived drops (the Monaco from appx 25 feet & the HC1 from over 10 ft) while working on telephone poles.

I'm using them in a very special situation, since I usually have my 700wx in the leg pocket on my Carharts, the Monaco works best for that. The HC1 is best when I'm in wearing regular jeans with the belt clip, but you should buy a pair of HC1s since after five months of use, the button on my HC1 has worn down and pops out of the holder as I get in & out of cars or chairs.

If your situation warrants, I'd probably suggest using a leather belt pouch, since the belt clip is integrated into the pouch. If your phone pops out of your hand while using it, then you are as clutzy as I am...

Hope this helps out!

I’ve actually purchased a metal case from a company that I think is in the UK. I did not know anything about their products, but what I purchased was appealing on the web site. I purchased this: Innopocket PDA Metal Case, Hard Case, Metal Case, Aluminum Case, Magnesium Case, Titanium Case. I did not purchase the one with the SD storage slot – I had no need for it.

It arrived yesterday and I am pleased with it. It’s a little bulky, as I would imagine all metal cases are. The quality seems sufficient and thus far, I am pleased with it and seems user friendly. One thing that I do like is that the red on/off buttons are now protected by a recess in the face – thus, when in a pocket the screen cannot be inadvertently turned back on.

I am not a big fan of Metallic cases for my handhelds, but I have used a couple of Lucite and Leather Form fitted cases.
I got a Leather One for my Centro and a Lucite for my Pearl, both from Prima Cases. I saw they have some metallic stuff for other BBs but don't think they do for Treo.
The Centro skin I am very happy with: it protects the phone all around and the cutouts are perfectly made for the openings and the jacks Premium Leather Cell Phone Style Case for Palm Centro - Prima by Bellagio Designs

I tried the pacific rim swivel cover case and while I liked the concept and was getting used to the one handed and not using the touchscreen when I would open the case it gor torqued a little bit and after a while it would niot stay closed and when jostled the device would fall out. I now am back with a krusell flip case and a covertec tan flip case. I just like the flip case format better. Its what works for me.

Well, jfa, I just ordered the Pacific Rim case today! Wish I had read your review prior. I've used so many different cases over the years and I cannot find a favorite. I just use them until I break them and then move on. Actually, I like one of the Palm OEM cases (the horizontal black leather pouch - on this one, I generally rip the belt clip out of the leather by catching it on something). I just broke a plastic holster this week. GRRRRRRR......

Oh, I also have a nice Sena alligator flip case...probably the nicest one I have ever used...but it just doesn't stay put on my belt. The cover keeps flipping open and it gets caught on stuff - even my coat!!

I liked the metal case and clip on the pacific rim case it just that the case seems to warp a little bit from opening it unless you are careful and then it wont close all the way so it opens up when jostled and the treo falls out. The clip is sturdy and theres no problem with it.

I have a british tan covertec that I found on the cheap on ebay bnib and its got a magnetic catch thats kind of a dougnut that the metal post slips through it seems to work well. They have them in treonaut store. The belt clip takes a little getting used to but so far I haven't busted it like I have with my krusell orbit which I have replaced twice because either the clip button fails or the plastic that the clip fits into on the back of the case breaks.
