Seidio Extended Battery

Hey i just recieved a Seidio Extended Battery in the mail and i was just wondering if anyone has any problems with these and if they really have a longer battery life. Im on the first day with it and it seems to be draining just as fast as the oem palm battery. Should i be noticing a difference? Has anyone else noticed. I just hate to pay $40 for something that isn't helping. Defective? i dunno please help! It also seems like everytime i check the battery its down a % as well as when i take it off the charger it is at 99% never 100%

I have a Seidio Extended Battery (2400mAh) too, was one of the first things I got for my Treo since i know the batt life on these things is much much lower than a regular phone.

The Seidio is better than the Palm batteries but not by much, it's not surprising really... a typical palm battery makes it through about my day ending up on 30% (so it's used about 1260mAh that day), whilst the Seidio end up on about 40% (so it's used about 1440mAh that day)

... Of course this depends on usage.

But that would make sense to me as the Seido has about 50% more capacity than the palm so to me it's in the quoted range, again depending on usage.

Make any sense...?

Not sure about the 100%/99% thing.

Thanks a lot steph your always a great help. I did talk to someone from seidio and he said you should notice a signifigant difference in the battery life and i should cycle the battery (charge fully, drain all the way, then charge fully again) So im going to give that a try. Also, on the note about the 99% he said it was normal for both the seidio and the regular palm battery to show 100% on the charger and 99% when you take it off. Thanks for the quick reply! I must be a heavy user because i just purchased my treo about a week ago and i take it off the charger at about 9 a.m., after the days over at about 11:00 p.m im at less than 20%. Right now with the first day of the new seidio i am at 55% and its 3:30 so i dunno we'll see!!

I know what you mean though. I was a little shocked at how quickly the Palm battery drains and I'm still shocked at how quickly the Seidio one does too.

A little bit of net usage and a some phone calls plus the requisite playing with the thing all day really does kill the batts quickly.

I'll try the 'deep-cycle' thing too - at least that what i think they call it.

I did the "deep cycle" and my battery last a very long time! By very long i mean at least the day. Just for example yesterday i took my phone off the charger at about 9 am well i used it (phone, games, media, and the net) after all this my batt was at 50% at 11 pm! I woke up today and it was at 40%! The cycling helps because it trains your palm to know what percent matches the actual battery life!

Just be a bit careful about cooling the Lithium-ion...modern batts should be ok but I remember once Nokia having a problem with cold batteries leaking.

One thing about new batteries, especially Lithion. They need two-three fully charge and fully drain cycles to work at optimum performance. I used to work in the battery field, privately and for the military. The freezing part, helps to keep the chemicals in your battery cooler thus the longer battery life. But I believe that the battery should not be operated under freezing.

But to make a long sentence short, two-three fully charge and fully drain cycles to get the optimum performance. What treo needs are the Lithium Polymer batteries!!!!

Seidio customer service sucks

so i order the bundled package for my 700p. i get everything except for the extended battery. i email seidio and they email backing with a link to file a order complaint. i file the complaint. no response. four days later, i email back again. again, they send me another link to file a complaint. i tell them i already did. they say they will call me. no call. a few hours later i get an email stating they did ship the battery with the order and the post office or another person who opened the package took or lost the battery. well, i was the only person who touched the package to open it and it was in perfect shape from the post office. so basically, they are calling me a liar and not doing anything about it.

i called again and an agent stated they would call me back. still not call. on monday i will file a complaint with the bbb.
