Think Outside Stowaway IR Keyboard with Treo 680 - Treo Forum

I have a Think Outside Stowaway IR Keyboard for my Tungsten E2. Since I'm a writer and a power user of DtG, an external keyboard is a must.

I've installed the keyboard driver on my new Treo 680, but it doesn't seem to work. It makes a connection, I type a few letters and then disconnects itself.

Has anyone tried to use this keyboard with a Treo? Is it hopeless? Should I start saving up for one of these sweet numbers?

Well, I found out the problem: I mostly keep the ringer off (I don't use the phone that much) and I didn't know it also turned off the IR port! Sheesh!

Boy am I glad I found this post Maggie. I just ordered the Stowaway and leave my ringer off most of the time as well. You saved me a lot of hassle.

I'm thinkin' I spoke too soon when I thought I could save a lot of hassel because of this thread. I just got the Universal Bluetooth Keyboard and it won't download the Palm Quick install driver to VISTA. "A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and ya dee daaaa." I'm so sick of VISTA...or maybe it's me screwing up somehow. Any suggestions would be helpful. I have the ringer ON as Maggie suggested. I clicked on the check for updates and the website is underconstruction and when I check for compatibility, it says my 680 is INCOMPATIBLE with this Keyboard even though every site including Treonauts says it IS compatible.
HELP please

I apologize to all Treonauts for suggesting that "our" Treonaut site indicated that the iGo XTBTUE was compatible with my 680. I simply bought the wrong keyboard and should have gotten the SBT5E. Well, I've got one for sale and will have to get the right one. This age thing isn't as cracked up as one might think it is, sometimes you think your just going nuts after doing dumb things.
