I guess if the audio out for my headphones was connected to a stereo input, I could save the money I would spend on a speaker docking station.

Can this be done? and if so what sort of lead should i get?

Any help appreciated

Just get a 2.5" to 3.5" adaptor such as this one and then connect a normal lead from that to your stereo

I'd get one of the ones that is meant to allow "normal" headphones to be used as the phone headset. it would serve the purpose for plugging into the stereo, and they have the microphone also so they can work with regular stereo headset to talk during a call. FYI, if you get a call on the Treo it will probably interrupt the music playback if the phone's not shut off. P.

Make sure that you get an adapter that people have used (you've read about here or other places) to make sure you get one that will offer the proper resistance to trigger the stereo sound. Otherwise you'll just get mono sound through your nice stereo.
