Palm GPS 3 /sd card

I just got the Palm GPS Navigation SmartPhone Ed 3. I have been using it for a few days and just love it. It comes with the TomTom 6 program and maps on a 1G mini sd card. I would like to transfer the program and maps to my 2G mini sd card so I can also use the ebooks and mp3 files without having to switch sd cards. Is this possible? If so how.

Thanks

Yep it's possible, just use a PC card reader to copy the entire SD card to the PC's hard disk and then copy it all back onto the new SD card

do we have to copy to root or can it be placed in a folder???

EDIT - Well it doesn't work in a folder called TomTom, so I am searching the registry to see if I can find a setting to modify...

There may be a license file tied with the TomTom navigator files so it might not work.

EDIT - Well it doesn't work in a folder called TomTom, so I am searching the registry to see if I can find a setting to modify...

Saw nothing in the reg, so tired this from from a different angle..

Used the DVD to install TomTom Home, get the latest updates, etc - then installed the App, the USA/CA Map, and the voice I wanted to the phone via AS instead of off the card. Was obviously a bit slower installing over AS, and my hope was that it would install in it's own folder on the card - but alas it did not. So you still wind up with various folders off off root on the card.

So I would suggest just copying the 1gb card that comes with the package to disk, then copying it back down to the larger card of choice, just as suggested above. It's not a bad thing, I was just trying to keep my card a bit more organized...

Yep TomTom Navigator doesn't use a single folder for all the files but uses multiple ones

Organization software would probably use multiple folders also.

Un-organized organization software.

You can always start fresh

You can go straight from the files on the DVD, rather than doing the copy from SD card to SD card.

From reading a lot on the Tomtom site, what you do is take a fresh SD card, and format it on your Treo. This will set up certain directories on the card as well as doing the formatting.

Next, you put the SD card into a card reader in the computer, and if you have Tomtom Home installed, you can now click on "device" at the top, then "change device". Select your newly "Palm formatted" SD card.

You can now copy the application, maps, and voice files to the new card that you want.

It looks like the device ID and activation are stored on the phone itself since I did not need to re-activate or do anything after making a fresh SD card in this way.

The Palm GPS Navigator 3 package comes with a USB SD card reader in the package, so you shouldn't have a problem.
