![]() | Recommended BT headset What BT headset do you guys recommend? What is the best bang for the buck? I had the Motorola H700, however I felt like it did not sit close enough to my ear. |

I know the guy who hosts this forum prefers the Jawbones headset. I've never tried it but the user reviews have not been favorable, particularly on dropping calls. I use the Jabra JX10 which I originally bought for about $180 and which now sells for about $140. It's small (tiny, aactually) and stays in my ear without the ear loop with no problems. The sound quality has been very good and the simple one button operation is mindless. Pairing is simple and quick and it holds a charge for a couple days in normal use. (If you tlk for several hours you might wear the battery down. I have been using it for a couple years now with no issues. I've also tried out the palm BT headset, the Jabra BT 250 and 500 and the plantronics that charges from a little cylinder. The plantronics has the best sound quality but charging it is a pain. It is also a little big and does not stay well in the ear. The Jabra's are fine but a little big and it is hard to get the earpiece to firmly stay in your ear. The JX10 comes with a little docking station which takes up very little room on a desk or dresser. The drop-in nature of a docking station makes it easy to drop in with one hand without fishing around for a wire and looking to make sure you have it right side up. The light on the headset is red while charging and green while fully charged. I like simple, easy and effective accessories and the JX10 fits the bill in my book. Two concerns you should know about. First, the ear loops break easy. Jabra will send you extras if you call them. I've abandonned them altogether because I like to carry the headset in my pocket and that is how I break the ear loops. I've gotten used to just shoving it in my ear. the sound quality is better that way and I don't have to fiddle around with an ear loop. If you really like ear loop style headsets, stay away from the JX10. Second, becuse the JX10 is so small, it is easy to lose if you don't follow good habits (just like car keys!). For that reason, I make it a practice to carry mine in my right front pocket when I'm away and dock it next to my treo when I go to sleep (I keep my car keys next to them, btw!). If you don't develop some type of habit, you may find yourself experimenting with cheaper headsets until you find where you left your JX10! | |
