Question Bluetooth help - Jabra BT 135, RAZR V3

*sigh* My second bluetooth is acting up now.

I have a Motorola RAZR V3 with a Jabra BT 135 headset, and i have the same problem with both headsets. My first one worked great, but then the trouble started. When someone calls me, I can hear them just fine. However, they cannot hear me speak. Eventually, the headset just died. Now I'm on my second headset and have the same voice problem. Is it a bluetooth error, or is there some setting on my phone that can cause this?

Any answer is greatly appreciated.

That doesn't sound like a BT comms error more like a hardware failure in the headset.

You coudl try pairing the headset with another phone (like a Treo, BB or LG) and seeing if the problem still happens. That woudl be key is differentiating between a headset and a handset problem.

I was searching other forums, and someone had the same problem with his/her treo. They're on their third headset and cannot send out a voice. I can't send out voice until I disconnect and reconnect the bluetooth. I doubt it's the phone, but are there any settings on the phone that may cause this?

Good news. I solved the problem.

Out of desperation, I did something drastic. I reset all initial settings on my phone, and now the problem is solved. I don't know what caused the problem, but now it's gone.

UPDATE:

WHAT THE ELL?

I go to initial setup and reset the phone, so that solves it. Then I personalize my phone again (wallpaper, ring tones) and it bugs out again. So I reset the phone and it works, I personalize it and it doesn't work. So this led me to believe the ring tone or wallpaper bugged it out.

So...I try it with a tone that was already on the phone, and it works. I try it with a home-made ring tone (using downloaded software to crop something out of The Seat belt's "Tank", and it bugs out. I change the tone back to a Verizon default tone, and it works again.

MY RING TONES ARE INTERFERING WITH MY BLUETOOTH! Does anyone else have this problem?

Razrs are well know for their choice in music.

It turns out the original OS was written by a Rolling Stones fan and so almost anything else cannot be used. Unless you choose something Rap or Hip Hop related in which case it doesn't register as music just as simplistic poems.

Serious though it sounds like with a custom sample tone it won't do bluetooth?

Have you tried doing a voice memo and using that as a ringtone to see if it crashes it in a similar way? Could be the format of the music causes some crazy software error.

Every foreign ring tone is treated as a voice recording, whether it's mp3, midi, or other.

Thats weird. Midi isn't an audio stream, it's just like a sequencer, mp3 and wav make sense.

Ok so it works with any of the built in tones but craps out with your foreign made one?

Have you tried downloading a ring tone from elsewhere and using that? Or maybe a different software to edit the audio - like the brilliant opensource Audacity.

Or even just using a completely unedited mp3...

I gotta believe it works otherwise there's a whole bunch of messed up Razrs out there.
