| A Few Questions.... ![]() | I received a Motorola H500 for my birthday, but after not being able to have any decent sound quality unless my Treo 650 was very close to the phone (like by my head on the same ear as the earpiece - 6 inches away) I went to Cingular and swapped for a Plantronics 320. After calling Cingular and Palm, Palm pointed out that only certain headsets are certified with the Treo 650. I printed out the list and took it to the Cingular store and found that they only have one headset that is certified (of course when you buy a headset they say all of them work great.) I'm a IT guy who likes wired stuff (for the no fuss setup and quality) but I really want to use a Bluetooth headset. Has everyone overhyped the Bluetooth technology? When it was first implemented it was for very short haul communications. Now, most headsets say that they work up to 33ft (on paper I'm sure) but unless you live in space with a Plantronics headset, I don't know how this is going to work with my Treo 650. I've tried the headset in my ear, phone on my belt - no good I've tried the headset in my ear, phone in my car door direct line of sight - good I've tried the headset in my ear, phone on my desk - good until I turn and place my body between the headset and my phone Suggestions? ![]() ![]() | I didn't like the Platronics 320 for the same audio quality reasons. I've ordered an H700 based on various reviews, Treonauts blog included. I've found however that I'm disappointed in general with the BT audio quality both a my end and at the receiving end ("you're really crackly Steph"). This is patetic given that other phone have no problem with BT and i can even put them down on the table and walk about the room - but not with my lovely Treo- it's like a 6 month old baby. Thus I still prefer wired solutions but I'll let you know when the H700 arrives it's it's any better. Of course it's a trade off between battery consumption and weight/bulk for range and various clever DSP stuff on board that can reduce outside noise. The JX10 I currently have seems to have on and off calls. On Off calls I gotta call back and hope it does a better job, on On calls it's ok but what can you do with a mic thats pointed in my mouths general dirction but not in front of it. Answer: Very little. ~ Steph |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Hey, Fairly new to the Treo 650, I know, it is the "old phone" but anyway, I used a Motorola H500 with my Razr and loved it, but tried it with the 650, and had pitiful results because it would not sync up automatically. Is that a problem with the headset or my phone? If I get the new ultralight wireless, does it work the same as my old razr, turn on the headset and it automatically syncs up? Just wondering before I buy. Thanks for any help. |

![]() ![]() | You have to pair the devices on the Treo, it's pretty simple to do and once you've done it works as you set out in your post. The pairing isn't automatic and you initiate it from the Bluetooth menu at the same time and putting your headset in pairing mode. Once the Treo has found the headset, wait a little bit for it to name it properly before going through the code entry (usually 0000). Then you're done. Sync your Treo to make sure you don't have to pair it again. ~ Steph

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | I have the Motorola H700 and it works only marginally with the Treo 650. Like Steph, I get the "you're really breaking up!" regularly unless the headset is at full charge. I've tried several BT headsets with this phone and none of them works very well...and definitely not at the range implied. Frankly I think it's a Treo issue. |

![]() | Treo and Plantronics 645 I purchased a plantronics 645 after purchasing a 640...the 640 sucked and I gave it to my father for his razr....the 645 has just as much static as the 640 did...if I hold the phone next to my earpiece works great..but hang it on my belt and it sounds like crackling paper...does anyone know how to handle this problem...have tried soft and hard resets...still no help...but the funny thing is that Palm is trying to pawn this off as their headset now and stating that it works just fine...so if anyone can help with this sure would appreciate your response...other than that great phone....and luv the site.. stdppy |
