Problem with Email application

I have a treo 680 mail program. It has actually happened to me in the past on an older treo model (650). Wondering if anyone knows anything about this?

I use the "Email" email application. NOt the Xpress application.

Every so often, the email application gets a bug where it COMPLETELY slows down. IE - if I hit a button, it will take like 10 seconds to register. Or if I am typing, each stroke of a key takes like 10 seconds to register. It is only in the email application. All the other applications (texting, phone, web) run like normal).

I will re-set the phone and it will continue. In the past, I actually was able to get rid of it by deleting the "account" from the email application. (and then re-installing the account). but now it says "one account must always be always be active. " but then I try adding a new account and it says I have reached my limits of accounts, which is strange because I don't have any other email accounts.

The customer service people at Cingular know NOTHING when I call. All they say is to take out the sim card. sigh.

Any help would be appreciated.
