ActiveSync --> Outlook Sync Problem Solved

Most of the WM users have never had this problem and those that have had it may have had it for a different reason. But When I developed it, I found NO solutions anywhere. Here it is ..........

I had my 750 set up to sync to our corp. Exchange Server every 5 minutes. Worked fine for a week. Then Outlook began locking up when trying to sync. The rest of the unit worked fine. Consistantly received service code 0x8503001C after the failed ActiveSync.

In searching the boards, I found few examples of this code and the 'fix' was always to hard reset or establish new relationships because there was either a bad calendar date or contact. Most had reported those fixes didn't work or worked for only a few days.

What worked for me ..........

This problem started when I added a new 2gig SD card. When I put it in I immediately formatted it. The File Explorer defaulted to a quick format. The card seemed to be working fine, however, had difficulty accessing a pod cast I had transfered to it.

I noticed over the course of the last week that sometimes when I removed and replaced the card, Outlook would at least open, although ActiveSync still could not sync to Exchange Server.

Finally I tried a complete reformat, but this time not quick format. Took ~15min to complete. Solved the problem. Apparently when Outlook (or any app attempting to store on the badly formatted card) went to sync it stalled the process. Once the card was properly formatted ........ all was well, again.

Hope this helps others out there. This is NOT a Treo issue (let alone a 750 only issue). It is not tied to a version of ActiveSync or WM version.
