Unhappy Cingular....just don't get it

Am a current Cingular customer and am looking for best price on Treo 750 while keeping my current number since it has been a part of my business for almost three years. Have checked Cingular website, LetsTalk.com, Treonauts, etc....and I am finding out that I can't get the best price and still keep my number. What sense does it make to PUNISH returning customers who are buying new phones? Oh, did I mention the early termination fee? I am speechless, literally. I have called everyone and every call ends in me hanging up without speech I am in such disbelief.

PLEA.....best way to get a Treo 750 while keeping my number, all for a reasonable price? Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

It depends on how long you have been with them. I have been with cingular for almost 4 years and have upgraded (got the new 2yr contract price) 4 maybe 5 times. This time when I needed to get the new 750 I was not able to upgrade. I went to EBAY. Bought the phone for 400$ The same price as cingular with the contract. No problems.

If you are happy with Cingular service why not just go for the extension and get the phone you want?

Jackal, not sure where your located, but in Florida, I upgraded from a Nokia flip phone. Got the rebate ($400 net cost for a 750, 680s are less) and the same number..all online by pulling up my account and using the "upgrade" link. If you can't do it there, go to a store..

Jackal,

I don't understand. Federal Law Mandates that if you wish to change carriers, you can. Don't close your current account. Go to the new carrier and tell them you want to port your number over to them. Get a phone, and they take care of the rest. If Cingular says you can't, remind them of the Federal Communications Bill that Congress passed 2 or years years ago.

If you are with Cingular, the you will have to pay a termination fee. If your contract is up, then you can move your number with you. Like I said, don't cancel you current service or you will lose your number.
