The 850 seems weird to me. I don't understand why the "850" looks so much different than the 800. I wonder if what we see as the 850 is really just an early mockup of the now current 800 or more likely a Centro replacer.

Remember, the Treo line is still aimed at the business crowd and the glossy 850 doesn't seem to jive with that market.

If anything the 800w is the successor to the 750 and the "850" is going to be a windows sister of the Centro.

Matte = Business
Glossy=Personal

Not really as the 850 is GSM so would be the natural successor to the 750. The 800w is CDMA and so replaces the 700w/wx. The difference in styling is probably to keep us supposedly more style concious Europeans happy.

The thing is, either Palm will release the 850 during the 3rd quarter or they will provide the WM6.1 update for the 750 that includes Mobile Device Manager 2008 which is native in WM6.1.

I will glady settle for both, as I can get the new palm for work, and still keep my trusty 75o as my own personal phone

Even though Im already running WM6.1 beta, I still prefer that they release the WM6.1 Update for the 750 1st before releasing the 850.

As per my AT&T business account rep (since I need a new phone as after hitting a hole in 1 on Wed., July 23rd on the 17th hole par 3 155yd at GlenRidge CC in NJ with a 7 iron and I went to take a photo with my 750 I realized it fell out of my golf cart some holes prior and was lost ..lol)

"Hi Mike. For your information,
The Treo 850 is expected to release sometime in Q4, however, it still has not passed through the beta testing."

as for at&T's roadmap for the rest of the year...

note the bottom line that there will be no 6.1 upgrade for the 750
