Ah nostalgia! My first handheld was a Psion 3c, then the 5, then 5mx. They were great machines, shame they were never able to carry on.

Taz is right though, without carriers like Vodafone the Palm would just not been known. Even with 02 marketing the Palm 500, that would not be heard of unless you looked on the internet

I have a 2 Psion Siena's sitting in the cupboard, basically a smaller version of the Series 3, great little PDA

Whilst Psion devices don't exist any more the OS still does. Formerly called EPOC it's now known as Symbian and used by Nokia, Sony Ericsson, etc.

Most smartphones and PDA's use an ARM based processor, this was originally designed by another small British company, Acorn Computers, to power their Archimedes range of computers.

The 850 was the pre-release name, it's now known as the Treo Pro and will be available in a month or two. It's a GSM phone so will not be compatible with Sprint's network.
