![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Mighty good question. As long as there are still palm and treos working out there there will be people who need help answers etc. i dont think will be out of business very soon. I was listening to the mindows mobile experts pod cast yesterday and either deiter or phil or malatesta were mentioning they had like 7 phones including a treo. |

And, yes, my Treo Pro is still around. Now, as to that quote, it was Yogi Berra, famous NY Yankees catcher. And Yogi Bear's way of talking was patterned after him. His other famous variation on that statement was "It ain't over till the fat lady sings."

If you keep it really simple & are very selective which applets you use on the Treo Pro, it can be a very nice UI. But the authors rely a lot on applet creators including variable sizing. Applet producers hold to that not so much. As a result, some of the applets tend to hang out in the upper left corner. Fancier, more complex stuff like PointSense tends not to resize for a 320x320 screen at all. So, Pointui is probably not a good choice for the Treo Pro, unless you're patient, willing to experiment & willing to be stuck with limited choices. On the Tilt2, there are other issues. Many of the regular themes are QVGA or VGA & don't resize well to WVGA. There are still some like "My Blue Light" that, while more basic, are downright elegant. When it comes to the more complex stuff, I need to rein in my tendency to experiment. But I am finding the combinations that won't work together. ![]() The above sounds pretty negative, but think about what the Pointui team has done. They've created a basic UI platform that, if you pick the right resolution build, will size to pretty much any screen. And, since you can switch wallpapers, even the default isn't hard to deal with. On top of that, they made it extremely customizable in both look & functionality. And there's a very active community that is doing just that with themes & applets. That many program only in one resolution set isn't surprising -- most of us can't afford multiple phones to test various resolutions. So, even though not all things work on all phones or with all builds, there's some interesting stuff that'll work on what you've got. And the quality is there. In some ways, it's very mature; in others, it still needs to fulfill its potential.

![]() ![]() | In a way you're right about Androkkid. It's a smaller, but growing community. Like the real Android, it's widget based. And I see the Androkkid author helping widget authors, authors of "competing" widgets helping each other. Users & programmers interacting well. A very nice environment. Add the fact that it's lightweight, stable, very usable & highly customizable. Unless you want to copy my layout of a page, yours is never going to look exactly like mine, but it will look like you want it to. The author started with VGA sizing &, with the initial installation, it detects screen size & sets icon sizing, etc. accordingly. So far, only one section of text on a weather widget was at issue on my Treo Pro. And a transparent version of an agenda widget had some issues with my Tilt2 &/or WM 6.5, since fixed. The main differences between Androkkid on the Treo Pro & on the Tilt2 are that layout will be different to some degree because of the differences in screen size & shape, and that the UI itself has some differences in behavior between WM 6.1 & 6.5. It's still a work in progress, but it's very professional looking & I've very much gotten used to it. |

![]() | Since this thread got slightly sidetracked, let me throw this out. Does anyone think it possible to have 2 operating systems on one device like some desktops can (Mac & Windows on same computer)? I'm thinking like WM7 & Web OS on same device so you could run different OS specific apps on the same device and be able to switch back and forth at will. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think its possible in theory but I think you would need to have dual processors and a larger memory storage area for 2 partitions |
