Search contact list - Treo Forum

Hi,

I use the contact list that is on the SIM card (i.e I do not import the list into the phone's Contact). When I try to search for a contact by hitting the first letter, it displays all the records that has the matched letter in either last or first name.

For example: Joe D
Marry Ann
Tom Jerry

When I hit j, it shows Joe D and Tom Jerry. I'd expect only Joe D.
Any solution/tip?

Just continue typing until contact choices have narrowed. By just typing one letter, the phone will filter by all contacts with that letter. For Joe D, type in J-o, and if necessary, J-o-e. If you know a lot of Joes, you may just have to keep typing.

It may narrow it down quicker to start with the last name. For instance I use outlook for contacts and I have lots and a search for J or Jo wont narrow down a long list of first names Joe or John as quick as starting with Jones or whatever. It is going to do it regardless of whether you are using SIm contacts or Outlook. I have been using outlook with palm and win mo devices since the days of the Palm IIIc and wouldnt think of using the sim card contacts especially now with microsoft's myphone app which I use as well. If you lose your phone you lose the sim card and have to start over if you are using outlook you get a new phone and sync to outlook and you are back in business same with myphone.
