Exclamation Colored Blocks On The Screen

I have a 755p and the phone started to sync on its own without the cable being connected and would not stop. I pulled the battery and replaced and the screen went white and asked if I wanted to update the ROM. I chose the yes option and the screen went immediatly to a screen with 8 colored blocks. Decending order, 2 columns , left side red, green, blue, white, right side white, red, green, blue. Please help, I have divorce recordings and must have them off the phone.

Welcome to treonauts geoandken! Sorry for your probelms. It tried to do a soft reset when you took the battery and when you said yes to the update it tried to do the update perhaps wirelessly check and see if it did the update. If it did you may or may not have lost your data. You may have a backup to restore and get any data that you lost but maybe not. It might be on your computer somewhere if you sync to a laptop or desktop. Do you use outlook or palm desktop?

Hi, geoandken,
As usual, jfa02 is correct.......the screen you saw is typically last seen at the factory, or by someone modifying the ROM. If you've hotsynced since the recordings, you may still have the data. Recover the device entirely FIRST......
(a hard reset may be possible)
THEN and only then, perform a hotsync.
If you do this, the the hotsync screen will appear, asking you if you wish to use an existing account, or create a new one. Use the hotsync account used with the recordings.
Keep us posted, please.

colored blocks

I have tried all the reset options for the phone with mypalm service help. They told me that i should go backto my service provider. One problem, I cant use the phone for service since my soon to be ex would not allow me to port the phone out of her name and took the 200 dollar cancellation fee for the line. Anyway, I am sorry I wasn't clear on all the things that I tried but I cant get the phone off of the colored block screen. There is an update that palm offered me but i cant update the phone unless if i stick the update on a memory card and stick it in the phone. Do you think that the phone might automaticly start the download from the card.

The update can also be done through downloading to your PC and then following the directions to sync with your 755p. However, I'm not encouraged that the update is going to work. It's worth a try though. Hopefully you had backed up your programs/data either via Hotsync or through an SD card. If not, given that your device may now be toast, you may have lost all your data and programs. Try the update via PC/Hotsync option and let us know what happens.

Stu....do you know if ROMtool will work with the 755p (....maybe to recover the existing ROM, or maybe to D/L from somewhere, then U/L to the device)?
I lost no data at all when I modified my ROM (it actually all stayed on the device), and so I suspect that geoandken's data may still be intact on the device, with no current way to access it because the device is now awaiting a ROM update in order to proceed.

geoandken:
***BAD TN.........BAD BAD TN for hitting "Yes".***

Okay......you're forgiven.......now onto solving this thing.........

There is no current means for "customizing" ROM on the 755p. So, to answer your query....although I don't know for sure, I don't beleive the ROM tool will work on the 755p and wouldn't advise taking the risk of bricking the phone.

I agree. I thought perhaps there might be a ROMtool (and accompanying procedure) specific to that device.
(BTW........I haven't seen Steph on here lately, and I believe it was a post from Steph that first led me to the ROMtool.)
