| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Weird calendar sync problem Good Treonaut folks: alas, I too am having a calendar sync problem - but a weird one. 1. Everything else syncs with Outlook 2007 ... except for calendar. 2. None of the appointments on my Outlook 2007 appear on my calendar. 3. When I try to manually add an appointment to my Treo calendar, my Treo restarts. 4. Strangest of all, appointment reminders still pop up ... even though I can't see any appointments on my calendar. 5. Log says that calendar sync'ed fine. I'm running a 1-2 month old Treo 755p. I'm trying to sync with my work computer which is running XP and Outlook 2007. I have done the Outlook 2007 update on my Treo. The only aftermarket software I have is SplashID 4.14 and Audible 3.0.9. I did swap work computers a few weeks ago and did have problems -- my Treo refused to sync with the calendar, but I could add appointments manually. Then, I tried to sync with my laptop off-network a few days ago, thus leading me to my current problem. I have upgraded my Palm desktop -- I'm even trying the version used with Vista. Still same problems. Help! |

![]() | Mxc11treonauts, you've brought up an intriguing situation. Although I have a 700wx, my work is now using 2007 office, and I'm worried about the possibilities for the same problem as you. I cannot afford the loss of my calendar, so, am syncing to my home....anyone got ideas? input? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | The fact that your Treo is reseting when you attempt to use your calendar likely indicates a corruption problem. Download a trial of TealScan from Tealpoint.com and scan your device and fix any problems. I think that is the most likely culprit. It may also be a software conflict, but that is less likely. If so, try a warm reset, check your calendar and see if it still resets. If so, then backup everything, do a hard reset, and do a selective restore of a few apps at a time and see what happens with your calendar after each restore. |

![]() | Agree wholeheartedly with Stu--your resetting when you add an appointment on your Treo is definitely a Treo problem. |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | TealScan applied, no calendar fix yet Thanks for the suggestions. I applied TealScan but the phantom calendar entries problem remains. With TealScan, I 1. Scanned and fixed. 2. Maintained by cleaning temporary files and cache files. I did not, however, delete any orphan prefs since I wasn't sure what some of these were. They are: (Unknown App: 'BfVr') #0(41) GoTreo Shared Data #3 (148) FileBrowser-PFil#0(10) RescoBackup #0 (6) RescoBackup #5 (8) Any idea what these belong to? Can I delete these? Are these causing the problem? Or any other thoughts? I mean, what are the chances this is my Treo getting mixed up trying to find my old Outlook profile or something? Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() | First of all, have the resets stopped? That was a corruption problem. Second, no, I don't think any of those orphan files would be causing the hotsync problem or that you need to get rid of them. Best bet with "orphan files" is to leave alone unless you're sure they are definitely orphans and not needed. Third, yes, I believe it could be looking for your old Outlook files. Here is a post I saved from another forum that deals with Hotsync issues with Outlook. I don't sync with Outlook so I'm not experienced to help in that way. However, this post has helped others. If none of this works then try going to the Palm website, as they have a considerable support section on Hotsync issues. Good luck! Here's the post (you probably don't need to worry about the contacts issues): just spent several hours with Palm paid support to solve my problem syncing my 755P. The real issue was outlook. I had the following behavior. - Sync worked fine for everything but Calendar and contacts. - The Sync log had several OERR errors. They indicate the issue is with Outlook, not Palm or Hotsync. - Hotsync/Custom would reset Calendar & Contact to Do Not Sync regardless of what it was changed to at the beginning of the Sync. With the support analysts assistance, we did the following - deleted & recreated the User. This cleared up the Contacts problem but not the calendar. - Ran Outlook Detect & Repair. It took a while and did fix some stuff. - Checked to be sure there were no more than 15 categories with no sub-categories - Deleted Recurring appointments that had no end dates - Deleted all Appointments that span across midnight. This cleared up my problem that I had been dealing with for three weeks. |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Hmm, problem still seems to be there, but I think we're homing in on the problem. 1. Ran MS Outlook Office Diagnostics. 2. My IT manager and I created a new profile in Outlook (but didn't delete the old one for fear it might delete all my data). 3. We uninstalled Palm Desktop 6.2 and re-installed it. 4. We created a new profile for HotSync. 5. Hard reset the Treo and then synced with Outlook. At first, it looked like success -- I could add dates. Since we created a new profile in Outlook, most of my calendar entries in Outlook appeared to be deleted, but gradually re-appeared after I opened Outlook (Outlook updated from the network). But after all my calendar entries re-appeared in Outlook, I synced only to end up at the same place as before: my calendar entries on my Treo appeared to be missing, but my appointments would pop up normally. I sense we're getting closer to the cause of the problem. Thanks again for the insights so far. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Run TealScan again. You may be syncing the corrupted data back onto your device causing it to reset again. I dunno. I'm running out of ideas. You might try Palm's Chat Support tomorrow. I'm sure its very frustrating for you. My work email suddenly stopped working last month. We think the University may have change the security protocols or something. |

![]() | Is Exchange Active Sync an option for you? I'm wondering whether there is some way that using that might fix your problem. Also, did you try deleting your hotsync archive folder after your reset? If you sync after your hard reset, even after reinstalling the desktop, it will load all the bad profile junk right back to your Treo. I'm really feeling bad for you about this! Good luck and hang in there! |
