EMAIL question newbie here - Treo Forum

How you guys doing? I just bought a treo 755 a few months back and I been trying to get my email activated for weeks now. Im a smart guy and good with electronics but can't seem to figure it out.. I have gmx, yahoo, hotmail accounts and id like to put the gmx one on my treo but not sure how to do it can anyone give me some guided steps on setting it up? thanks in advance

Welcome to Treonauts, MGuitogmen!!!!! Some of it depends on which email app you are going to use. Here is a good intro to email:

And this one helps you decide whether you want a pop email account or IMAP.

TreoFaq: POP3 versus IMAP4

Post again and tell us which email app you plan to use and we'll be able to assist you further.

Still doesn't help. Are you using Versamail, Sprint Email, ChatterEmail, Good, etc.?

dont know what anyone of those are... i honestly cant believe i cant figure this out ha ha... i am in my 3rd year of law school and i cant figure out how to get email on my treo... anyone with guided instructions?

try going to palm.com and to the 755 and they should have aguide there to setting up your email with the larger isps.

Well I just set mine up after reading your post. I clicked on the email icon and edited the default account. It is just like setting up any other pop3, just fill in the info. If your not using a pop3 you should check with Palm.

Sorry I can't be more descriptive, I'm on my Palm right now.

Versamail is the default email client for the 755p. Go into it, and set up your GMX account. Incoming server is imap.gmx.com, outgoing is mail.gmx.com.

IMAP won't work on your 755P unless you get the update for the Centro installed on your Treo. Palm does not recommend it but I did it via OTA (over the air) download. Once I did that, I setup my versamail to do IMAP for Gmail.

Make sure that you go into your gmail account, select settings, then go to Forwarding Pop/IMAP Then configure your Gmail. Link here:
