![]() | newbie-mini sd card question? Hi Guys, I'm a little confused about the function of the sd card. Is it just for storing applications/files to have on hand to be transferred to the treo when you need of use them, or, can you actually run them/acess them when they are on the sd card and not stored on the treo ram? For example, one of my biggest space hogs is merriam webster dicitonary, can i keep it on the sd card and run it from that location? If you can, is there any trick or are there any special steps that need to be taken? Thanks in advance! |

Just remember, you have to have available in main device memory an amount equal to or greater than the program you are trying to operate. Probably the easiest way to get the program on the card is to use a freeware program called FileZ. You can open it, go the the device tree, select your program, and move it to the card.

If you are unsure whether the app can be run from the card, just simply ask here, and someone will likely know. A third party launcher will also allow you to launch the app from the card without having to go into the top menu. Either way, please know that applications take a second or two longer to temporarily move to the phone and run. Once you're done the app then resides back on the card. However, if you reset during its use, you may find that the app is located on the phone and the card, when you reboot. Simply delete the app on the phone and you're good to go. Cards are also great for holding videos, pictures, MP3s, email archives, etc. One key here, though is to ensure that they are each put in the right file folders. MP3s go into Audio or Music; Pictures go into DCIM, and apps go into either the Launcher or Programs folder. |
