![]() | Hello all, I am new to the site, and also new to the world of Palm Treo. I am a long time Palm user for just PDA. Today I set up phone service with Verizon and chose a Palm Treo 755p. I live out in the middle of nowhere. I am registering 1 bar for signal strength, and that is only in some rooms of my house. I am afraid I will not be able to get consistent reception in my home - a necesssity! Would I get better signal strength with the 700p due to the external antenna? And would it be worth it or is the 700p a "problem child?" Any and all help appreciated. Lisa W |

![]() | In my humble opinion, having owned both devices, I think the 700p and 755p really have had similar, outstanding reception. I think the improvements to the 755p also outweigh getting an older 700p. Here's a good article comparing the two. Gadgets on the Go: Treo 755p vs the Treo 700p

![]() | I read somewhere that a T650's antenna isn't as strong as the T680's antenna. I think the new internal antenna models have stronger antennas embedded in them. (I think I read this on the Palm Website, not sure though) |

![]() | Impaler, thank you for the info. That is what I thought, just wanted to be sure. I am in an area of terrible reception. Switched from AT&T to Verizon because they have better coverage, didn't help in my "hole" of a home though. StrikeBeta, thank you also. I appreciate the input. |

![]() | Some phone companies (not sure if Verizon is included) have offered a system that connects to the internet and provides a small cell signal in your house. These are intended to help users in poor coverage areas. I think Sprint has this. I forget what it's called. But you might ask Verizon if they have a similar type of device. Jason |

![]() ![]() ![]() | They also have an antenna which you can place outside athat acts like a mini cell tower that can be used on any network There is a post here somewhere I'll search for it and get the url. I checked out the company website and it sounds good but its not real cheap. I think that cell providers have a device that you can dock your device to and use your landline phones on. |

![]() | Jason, Thanks, I did find that last night on the net - Sprint Airwave. They are charging 15.00 a month, and it does go through the internet. Verizon told me today that they are actively pursuing our problem (hmmmm). |

![]() | jfa02, Thank you also. I found a lot of these during my searching last night. If the problem isn't resolved I will probably end up with one. Lisa |

![]() | LotusLord, Verizon actually has the best coverage in this area. We just happen to be within throwing distance of the Mexican Border, and there is a new Mexican tower there that seems to be pulling our signals, or something. The same thing was happening with our old provider - AT&T. They just refused to even acknowledge the bleed, and I was getting charged roaming charges all the time. In December they told me I was in Mexico City roaming - on the same day I was teaching 100+ middle schoolers computers! At least with Verizon they understand there is a problem, and do seem to be working on it. They've even put in our contract that if we roam, they won't charge us. According to them, when they get the fix in it will fix both roaming and the weak signal at the house. Thanks, Lisa |
