Third party Apps - Treo Forum

Are there any third party apps that allow sending pics in a text or is there a way to do something like that.

You mean a text message?

If you mean text message/sms that's built into Palm OS in several places.

Goto: Pictures & Videos, navigate to a picture but don't open it, tap the mail icon bottom right, from the pop-up select Send with Picture Mail.

Then you'll be able to pic more pictures and finally be shown the Compose Message dialog which is like SMS. Put in any mobile number or email address you like and send!

The same Mail icon also appears after you've taken a picture.

The recipient will receive a message with a link to view the picture.

Beware there may be charges for sending mms/sms such as these.

My guess is that k-roc7 is an Alltel customer, as I am. I guess this for two reasons: 1) I share the same sentiment and 2) I notice that your carrier is listed as "Other." I had to do this as well, because Alltel is not on the list to chose from unfortunately.

If this is the case then for now we are out of luck in this regard. However, over on Hofo someone reported that Alltel will be changing this and will allow us to send pictures via MMS "this year." Now exactly when that is, no one knows...at least no one that can say.

I send pics via Versamail for now, and it's the same process that skoenig indicated above for sending via pic mail. It's just that the only options listed for us are "bluetooth" and "email."

If this is not the case and you are not with Alltel....forget everything that I just said.

And I apologize for not being helpful...sincerely.

More likely you'll be charged internet usage instead of a text or MMS, if you don't have an unlimited data plan.

Oh yea, but it's ok for me, because I have an unlimited data plan. For others without such, it could definitely become a costly issue!

Defintely. I was slightly surprised to see the data connection active on my 750 when I recieved 2 picture messages last month.
