4GB MiniSD card - PC won't recognize - PLEASE help - Treo Forum

I just bought a 4GB Kingston mini SD card for my Treo 755P. Using the phone I took a couple pictures using the card - worked fine.

Then I put the card into my PC to transfer some MP3 files only to discover my PC doesn't recognize the card.

I've tried everything. When I go to "My Computer" and click on the drive that the card is inserted into the computer just hangs up.

I have formated the card in the Treo but that didn't help. I read somewhere to reboot the PC with the card in the slot and when I tried that the computer hung up and wouldn't reboot - I had to do take the card out and do a cold boot.

Can anyone shed some light on this and give me some suggestions? PLEASE!!!

If it's an SDHC card then the reader need to be one that's compatible with SDHC cards, older ones won't be.

Thanks - but it isn't a SDHC card - just a plain 'ole SD.

Any more suggestions? I would really like to be able to just drag and drop files from the pc to the card.

Again, thanks for any help or suggestions.

Are you sure as the only 4Gb mini-SD cards listed on Kingston's website are SDHC cards

Taz - You are so right - I am sooo wrong.

The mini card IS a SDHC card. When I went to check it I was looking at the adapter that comes with it and it just says Mini SD adapter. After reading your post I took the card out of the Treo and by golly, your right.

OK now, my computer is less than 2 years old and I use the built in card reader. Would it be old enough not to be able to read the SDHC card? How would I be able to determine that?

If I have to buy a stand alone card reader what do I need to look for to determine that it would work?

Hard to say really, not all card readers sold now are compatible

The only way is to try another SDHC card in it.

Check that it specifically says compatible with SDHC cards.

I have an internal card reader in my PC but I've also bought one of these to use at work and on my laptop
