Treo 755P with Cyfre Cell Phone Amp

I'm thrilled with my new Treo 755P which I just got in July. I now get sterling service thanks to a Cyfre 819 Cell Phone Amp and 5 db car antenna plus a cell phone adapter cable. I live in a "cell phone hole" in a hilly area with poor line of sight to the towers. I normally got bad reception and lots of dropped calls. Had to go out in my front yard to talk at all most days. Looks funny and its hot out there in N.C..

Now when I talk to my wife at the office I can hear her busily typing away on her keyboard, and she can hear the a/c fan in my car. If anyone is interested get back to me.

Impressive boost. I've never used one, and I know some people are very hesitant to use a booster, but the people who do use them always have good things to say about them.

I am no exper but from my readins that is pretty impresive. I have read that a 1db-3db boost could be possible. Is this system mobile, like to place in a vehicle.

5 dB of boost

The antenna is a 5 dB antenna and the cell phone amp is rated for something like 3W or power, enough for a car or a house. The Cyfre system is cool because it limits boost for optimum call quality but not too much to distort the signal. This per the guys I bought it from at Maximum Signal and Cyfre. It is designed to be car mounted or can be mounted in your house, or portable for both.

Partically speaking, you need to get two antennas, one for house and one for car. The house antenna you get depends upon whether you are line-of-sight to a tower (yaggi type) or like me not line-of-sight so you need an omnidirectinal antenna.

Data is different from voice as I seem to get good data service in Raleigh even when I get crappy voice service (before I hooked up the the Cyfre system that is). Data packets are retransmitted while voice is real time and can not so that is the difference I suppose.

antpet3: I would try a few things... first, I would crossflash to a 755p firmware if you are on sprint because the 700p firmware is crappy and the 755p is just a 700p in a new case... then I would do a prl update to make sure treo is using the right cell towers. when I get back to my computer, I will post link to easy crossflash files. good luck!

bad reception with my 755p

hi, i just recently purchased a 755p from a private owner. i flashed it to work with metro pcs and i love the phone so far EXCEPT when I get calls sometimes (more than desired) ppl tell me that I am breaking up really bad. I NEVER got this with my crappy nokia phones on metro. I am wondering if I got a bum phone or if flashing did this or what. Overall I need the phone to work as I am out on the road alot most days and depend on that to communicate.
Can anyone help me with this? The antenna thing sounded good, but whats the deal, I have to carry around an antenna??
help, plz!
