![]() | Screen blank silences calls. Anyone else experiencing? I have never been an early adopter, but on the first day Sprint had the 755p I upgraded my Treo 600. The unit I received had an odd problem; Sometimes while on a call all sound would drop. The connection would still be active but I'd be unable to hear anything and nothing I said would be heard by whomever was at the other end. This seemed to match up with the screen blanking out after three minutes (the maximum time you could set it for) and I sometimes fended off this problem by tapping various things on the screen (battery indicator, to and from the keypad) while I talked. One time I lost the sound the same way even though I was doing that. Sometimes pressing a key would restore the screen and sound. Sometimes not. Palm said I had a bad unit and Sprint replaced replaced it for me. The same problem happened with the new unit. Just once, though. Previously it had happened fairly regularly, but still it makes me wonder if this is a design problem and if anyone else has experienced it? ArchGoodwin archie.goodwin@gmail.com |

![]() | 3rd Party Software: No system hacks, phone or time oriented functions. Mostly just Dopewars and a couple other games (I can't recall the others and it's not in front of me this second, but one was that fine grid game where you try to make the pirate ships run into each other and not touch your boat.) And, on the first unit, the problem re-occurred after a hard reset with no other software run before the call was made. |

![]() | It may well have been a faulty phone. It has happened once on the new phone though so I'd like to nip it in the bud. I've heard that having installed the Palm desktop over my previous (600) install may have been a mistake. Does anyone think the following would do me any good to do a clean reinstall onto my phone, then move over my information? Do these steps look right? Hotsync Back up C:\Program Files\HandSpring to a cd. uninstall Palm desktop delete ..\handspring\*.* Hard reset phone to factory config. reinstall Palm desktop from disk Hotsync to add phone name/association copy desktop databases (which files?) from cd into matching dir on pc hotsync |

| Senior Member ![]() | Ah! I bet your feeling like going back to your "never been an early adopter" philosophy now, eh? Off-topic brand but my son was all guns a blazin' for his new MotoKrazr and only AFTER he bought it, and experienced his first problems with it, did Sprint tell him, "yeah, this is a known bug with these phones. No fix is known yet." He was all kinds of bummed! Best of luck with the new phone. |

![]() | By way of an update... I did wind up exporting the PDA databases, reinstalling the desktop and importing them. Then I cleared the phone back to factory settings and synced again. The problem (knock wood) seems to be gone. Since the problem only occurred once on this device however, I suspect my first unit was faulty, but maybe only faulty enough to have problems when the older database was installed without the export/import-clean step. Thank you all for your assistance and kind wishes. |
