Windows Media Player is written for Windows Mobile, so it won't work on the Palm OS based 755p. In the mean time there are several bits of desktop software that will convert your .wmv files to be viewable on your Treo. Do a search for .wmv to Palm OS conversion, and you will come up with plenty of answers. Something to look forward to is native support for .wmv in v1.5 of CorePlayer.

TCPMP is a media player you might want to check out. It's highly recommended by Palm users. See this thread or do a search for TCPMP. There has been quite a bit of discussion on it recently due to the release of the 755 and less recently the 680.

I use the TCPMP and I love it. The only problem is that the ACC Decoder was taken out. I have searched, HI and LOW, and can't find it. ACC allows you to view protected media, if I am not mistaken.

All in all, not bad for a free viewer.

AAC is the so called "successor" to MP3. Apple's iTunes store mostly sells protected AAC files, which can't be played on anything but a computer or an iPod. It offers EMI music unprotected for an additional fee. By default iTunes also rips music into AAC unprotected of course.

The TCMP codec doesn't allow for playing of protected AAC files. pTunes even has a protected AAC codec, but not the one used by iTunes. Annoying....

I thought that Steve Jobs did some long spiel about how terrible DRM was and how he, the crusader that he is, would remove it from songs sold on the iTunes store

Oh and the G5 processors are soooo much quicker than anything Intel have developed which is why Mac's are all Core2Duo based now

Steve allegedly hates DRM, but legally Apple can't remove it without approval from the record labels. It's in their contract. EMI sells DRM free music on the iTunes store, for an additional fee.
