Arrow Treo 750 Registry Tricks and Tips!

I was thinking of a dedicated thread of Registry Tricks and Tips that works specifically for the Treo 750. If you also like to share a Registry Tweak, pls post it in this thread.

Pls note that a Registry Editor must be installed on your Treo before proceeding. A good freeware like the PHM Registry Editor can be downloaded from here. Pls select the Pocket PC 2002, 2003 (ARM/PXA) CAB version.

As always, Backup your Treo with a good backup software like Sprite or SPB Backup before modifying any entries. Alternatively, you can also backup your entire Registry through your Registry Editor for a smaller footprint.

Paper How to change your Network Operator's Name

One of the most asked and sought after tweak is how to change your Network Operator's name to something much more cooler! As usual, a Registry Editor must be installed on your Treo before proceeding.

1) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/RIL/OperatorNames using any Registry Editor.
2) Create a new String value using MNC/MCC of your operator as value name.
3) Then under value data, type any desired name.
4) Turn off your Phone or remove the battery (pls allow a min of 20 secs before turning it on again)
5) Turn on your phone again to see the change.

For a complete list of operators, you can check out:

Mobile Network Code - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here's an example. Lets say the Carrier is AT&T which MCC is '310' and MNC is '090'. Then the string value should be set to '310090'.

Paper Enable Date/Month on the Top Menu Bar

As the Treo 750 240x240 pixels resolution is kinda small, most users tends to opt out the Date from the Today's Screen in order to save up some space.

Now, there's a way to insert a small Date/Month stamp on the top right hand corner above the Time for easy reference without wasting the precious Today's space. As usual, a Registry Editor must be installed on your Treo before proceeding.

1) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\ using any Registry Editor.
2) Create a new DWord value with TBOpt as value name.
3) Then under value data, put in the value of 3 (*Note TBOpt=1 will show only Time, TBOpt=2 will show only Date while TBOpt=3 will show both).
4) Reset your Phone or remove the battery.

After Reset, there's another step to ensure the date does not get cut short:

1) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls\overrides using any Registry Editor.
2) Create a new String value using SSDte as value name.
3) Then under value data, put in the value of "MM/dd " without the quotes (*Notice the spaces after "dd " as this is important. Use the spacebar on the keyboard to create 2 spaces for best result)
4) Reset your Phone or remove the battery to finalize the change.

Yes, HKLM is in short for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Anyway, Ive editted them to prevent confusion.

Do you mean when you go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/RIL/, you can see CarrierName? If thats the case, try the CarrierName instead of OperatorNames.

Hey cyfer-

I did this mod, which is trick, but on my screen it is showing, "07/11/0". How may spaces is there supposed to be after the "MM/dd "? What am I doing wrong? Also after I reset the phone, I go back to the registry and the new strings that I create are not there. I'm running WM 6.0 only.
