| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Cingular Unlocked or Palm Unlocked? Please help. Hello, all. I'm sort of new here. I've never posted a thread like this because most of my questions have been answered by previous threads. Anyways, here's my situation or my dilemma. I'm getting an unlocked 750 from a my good friend's friend. This is a Cingular Treo that's been unlocked. I'm a little bit weary of the extra software that Cingular puts on their Treos and wanted to know if I would be able to remove the Cingular software of the Treo. If I were able to do that, would I still be able to use the Treo because I read in one thread where you need the Cingular certificates for it to operate or something? I really didn't understand that whole concept. The main thing is (if I do end up getting this Treo) I want the Cingular software off and make it totally just Palm software. Also, if anyone has figured out how to take the "Cingular" logo on the top right corner off? Well, this is one of the options. The other option is for me to get a new unlocked unbranded Treo altogether. If I go with the first route, what would I have to do to take the Cingular software off the Treo and if I did do that, would it affect the Treo's phone functionality because of the lack of Cingular's certificates, or can you get different certificates? Recommendations, suggestions, advice all welcome and very much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help and kindness. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | The software that at&t (formerly Cingular) includes on the 750 isn't that bad. However, I believe you could use whats called a ROW (rest of world) ROM, which would make it exactly as an unlocked Treo from Palm would be. I can't say for certain though.

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | See, I don't know what software AT&T puts on there because I'm going to use this Treo for T-Mobile. All I know is I don't want the AT&T start up or anything AT&T on this Treo if I do decide to get it. Is there a way to get rid of the AT&T programs/branding and make this Treo like an unlocked one that Palm sells? |

![]() | We in fact have the same discussion here at Treonauts which can be found from here. Pls note that installing the WM6.1 Unofficial will not remove the Extended ROM where all the crappy carrier's stuff such as Carrier Bloatwares, Bootscreens, Messenger and etc resides. Though I have posted a way to remove them, pls note that I have no knowledge of AT&T/Cingular's Certificates or DB Caches if its required at all.

![]() ![]() ![]() | I'd think once it's unlocked replacing the ROM with a ROW version would work. I'd go with 6.0 not 6.1, since that's official.

![]() ![]() | There are roms for 6.0 which will remove all the ATT bloatware att mall at music etc. There are also ways to edit out stuf but they are not necessarily for the faint of heart. I will send you a PM about where to find. |
