Using Mp3 or WMA files as Ringtones

We frequently get requests for how to add ringtones. I put this together using the leaked version of Windows Mobile 6 for the Treo 750, but the steps for Windows Mobile 5 devices are essentially identical.

You'll have at least 1 mp3 or WMA file on your memory card or device that you want to use as a ring tone. It can be a full song but generally cutting it down to about 30 seconds works best. I use Audacity to cut my songs down because it's free, but there are other apps out there that you can use to do this.



Starting from the Today screen, bring up the Start Menu. Go into Settings.



Enter Sounds and Notifications, which should bring up something that looks like this.



Go to the Manage tab, bringing up...



Press Menu and choose add.



Navigate to where you have your sound files stored, and press Select.

Edit the contact you want to change the ringtone for and scroll down to the Ringtone option.
