![]() | Internal vs mini SD for applications I have the AT&T 750 w/ wm5 and a 2gb mini sd card. I have loaded a *lot* of apps... Magic Button, HandyLauncher, Google Maps, Opera, Agenda One, List Pro, Pocket Streamer, various utilities, etc. etc. etc. My knee jerk approach is to load these apps on the mini sd card to keep from eating up internal memory... More recently I have begun to think that that is not always the best approach. Some applications that have a component that starts up automatically with the phone after a reset & can have some problems if the applications are not loaded in the phone's internal memory. Specifically, HandyLauncher will require two successive press and holds on the side button to get it to load--if you don't realize it needs the extra button push, you might think it has hung. Had to do a kludge to stop it from doing that. (copy it to the Startup folder) Also, the ListPro Alarms feature used to have some problems if you loaded ListPro on the card. They just updated ListPro... not sure yet if they fixed it. Lastly, Agenda One sometimes won't run at all... the phone seems to lose it and forget it is on the card. I am seriously thinking of reinstalling it in internal... just concerned it will eat up too much memory. I am interested in hearing from others how you decide where to put your applications... internal vs the mini SD card. I don't want to eat up my internal memory with applications, but it seems like some must get put there to function properly. Thanks for your thoughts and feedback! PM |

![]() | Thanks TazUK... I greatly appreciate your feedback. Interesting... you put all your apps in internal? How many apps do you guess that you have? What is your internal memory usage like for the apps you have? Do you have a mini SD card? What do you use it for then? PM |

![]() ![]() ![]() | It comes in handy for upgrading to wm6 for one thing. I keep my laridian bible software on the card. Much easier than carrying around a big bulky bible. |

![]() | I run a lot of 3rd party apps on my Treo, and I install most of them to the miniSD. My decision on where to install is usually based on if I think I am going to use it long-term and if I believe it will be more stable on the device vs. on the miniSD. Recent installs on the device itself include: Agendus Pro Telenav Pocket Express eWallet HanDBase Spb Backup On my 4GB Transcend miniSD card, apps I've recently installed: Everything else! Like... Google Maps Several games (Yahtzee, Tetris, Monopoly, Battleship, etc.) IM+ ListPro PhatPad Ringo Space Reclaimer VoiceMinder Weatherbug Of course, I also use my card to store files, backups, music, etc. These are all recent installs and I have other apps loaded on my Treo, but where I installed them escapes me at the moment. My Treo is in the other room charging at the moment, so........

![]() | 14 isn't too bad. I have some large files I've gone through recently and cleaned up and I have 19 free. Maybe your GPS app is storing files? I use Telenav, so I am not familiar with TomTom.

![]() | Not sure myself, although I am moving to a 4 gig card so will proably reinstall TomTom with the larger card...so I will look at the difference without TomTom before re-installing. |

![]() | Interesting... I am curious about what problems, if any, have people ran into with installing apps in internal vs the card? From what I am reading about the GPS apps, if there is a possibility of them storing files, then that would definitely be one app I would put on the card. (Don't use any GPS with the Treo now.) ListPro gave me some problems if I put it on the card. The alarms feature was the culprit, it turned out. There is a new version of ListPro out, but have not checked if they fixed the problem yet. HandyLauncher is another one that I have had problems with installing on the card. |
