TREO 750!!! Buttons not working!!

I'm about to throw this phone out the window!!!

I really want to like this thing, but it just keeps pissing me off at every turn. Now, I can't check my voicemail because I CAN'T ENTER MY PASSWORD!

At first, I could at least press the green button to bring up last calls, and the left menu button to dial voicemail. But when it asked me to enter my password, I pressed the buttons, but nothing happened. It just kept asking me for my damn password. This has happened before, but when in the past, I would look at the screen and the start menu would be expanded (even though I didn't press) it. Every time it was the start menu, now it clearly shows the current call screen, but I can't press a damn button.

So I rebooted it. After reboot , the only button that worked was the freaking red/power button! I did another soft reset, and I could use both menu keys. I figured everything was good. So I dialed voicemail again, and the SAME THING happened... it's not recognizing my key strokes.

So my first phone's touchscreen died, apparently because I put a screen protector on it (the screen died the next day). Now I have a phone where the touch screen works, but not the keyboard .

This is ridiculous.

I feel your pain. I'm a long time Treo 650 owner and have regreted almost every day since I bought this Treo 750.

I found a nice program making my life somewhat easier - AE Button Plus which is a nice button remap program. Dont think it'll help a dead keyboard tho.

Wish it would be a stable enough device tho.

welcome to treonauts bobcarter07!. Sorry to hear of your issues and frustrations. I remember my first 2 pocket pcs getting active sync to install and recognize the device and sync. I had the same feelings and then some.
First off what os does your desktop or laptop use? have you installed any third party programs on the device. What sort of device or phone did you use before. Are you using outlook 2007? Have you checked to see what programs are loaded in the background? when you hit the x on windows mobile devices it does not close the app and they keep running in the background and hog memory and reduce system performance and the device gets slower and sloer and it may that memory is near full and its so slow that its not working much at all kiind of like when your temporary internet files cache is full. Also if you get on line with the device your temporary internet files need to be deleted. If you can tap and hold the okay button you should hear a click and then release and a screen will come up and tell you what programs are open. Close them all and hopefully yoour system response time will be vastly improved. If these things dont work get back with us and we will work on it more. Good luck and hand in there we will do our best to get you going towards blue sky and sunshine in the land of Treo!

welcome to treonauts waikikiTed!. I had the 600 and the 650 and while I thought they were good devices and had their drawbacks I was getting more frustrated by the limitations of the palm os and do not regret switching back to windows mobile I have bene happy with the 750 for 7 months now. Sure there are minor annoyances and glitches and the system response gets slow at time when I forget to close programs and get rid of my temp internet files. But I have been pleased with this device and happy that I did not experience what I went through with my HP Journada and the Casio E-200 pocket pcs. I was dreading having installation problems again and thankfully I did not. Knock on wood.

Welcome to Treonauts waikikiTed, and bobcarter07! I too am sorry you're experiencing problems with your 750s. It's possible that you both got bad units. Are your devices covered under warranty? I hate to recommend a hard reset, which will clear all of your data and applications, and restore it to factory, but it may solve your problem. I think a third party application may have something to do with it, though I can't be certain, or narrow it down for you.

47619 will become famous soon enough
You can buy a replacement screen+digitizer at performancepd.com or pdaparts instead of paying palm to do it

Ask another forum user how to replace the screen

I can only replace the screen on a treo 650
