750 and Wireless Sync

Am I missing something? I just trashed my 650 for a brand new 750 via AT&T. I have Microsoft Outlook on my desktop and I have enjoyed having intellisync wirelessly update my 650 with new email, changes in contacts, and additions to my calendar. My secretary would make an appointment, and I would see it on my 650. I am trying to find that same capability for my 750. Is it really true that I have to be running Exchange Server to have this simple-minded capability?

What did Intellisync use on the Treo side for syncing?

There are web sites that offer a copy of outlook and the use of an exchange server site for around $10.00 per month.

my desktop is running Windows XP and my Treo is running Microsoft not Palm. I do not want to go out to another site for Outlook and I do not want to have to go to Exchange Server. I just want what I was doing on the 650 (I'd have kept the 650, but you can't even buy a power supply for it anymore). I guess I will have to return the 750 if it cannot do this... but I find it hard to believe that intellisync or something cannot work this issue!

Intellisync is a third party product and it lists it as being compatible with Windows Mobile on their website, so I'm sure it can work Having never used it myself I assume there must be something installed onto the Treo to do this Was that the case with your 650?

What do you mean by this? Do you mean the internal power supply or battery? Or do you mean the wall charger? The wall charger is the same as the newer treos, and you can still buy batteries. As far as internal parts, you can buy those too if you google treo 650 parts.

From what I understand, intellisync (even for your 650) was using intellisyncs exchange server to do that for your treo 650. That's at least my impression after reading over the intellisync website. I see no reason why you couldn't use the service of intellisync with your 750. Possibly talk with the people at that company to see if the 750 is compatible with their service (maybe you won't need software and just be able to use the native exchange activesync software already included in windows mobile to connect to Intellisync.

no, i had to use intellisync, which was perfectly fine by me... in speaking with somebody just now at the Nokia site, I am informed that since I have my 750 with AT&T/Cingular, and not Verizon (my 650 was with Verizon), I can get on a month-long waiting list to be able to use their service (Nokia's) service for wireless syncing with my Outlook. Verizon apparently had their own intellisync service, and he thinks they have it for the 750, so I will probably take this back to AT&T and try to get one with Verizon (though I HATE Verizon, as they drop calls right and left). Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The 750 is a GSM phone so won't work on Verizon's network, the nearest thing to it with Verizon is the 700wx

The wall charger for my 650 has a 15mm x 2mm jack. The wall charger for my new-but-going-back 750 has a square much smaller 4mm x 3 mm jack. Definitely different. Last time I went into a Verizon store to get a wall charger for my 650, they laughed and said I had to get a converter thing at Radio Shack. Anyway... the wireless sync thing with Verizon was apparently an inside service of Verizon, which they had OEM'd from Nokia, makers of Intellisync.

Since my 750 won't work with Verizon, and Intellisync won't work with the 750 as is, I am going to forego this whole scene and defect to something else... But what?

PhilJ... I'll point you to this link Smartphone experts retractable sync and charge cable This cable is compatible with all treos... just like my treo 650 cable (yes I still do use a treo 650) can charge a 750.

The 650, 680, 700w, 700wx, 750, and the 755p all have the same power cable. The part that plugs into the wall may be shaped different, but the actual power end that plugs into the treo is the same for all of them.
