750 WM6 upgrade for unlocked phones? - Treo Forum

This question was posed in another thread but I didn't find an answer to it and it kind of piqued my curiosity. Will the WM6 upgrade be available to people with unlocked phones? I have a local cell phone provider and judging by their in-store phone selection, they are kind of behind the times (which is why I want to upgrade to a treo!) has it been posted anywhere how the upgrade distribution will work?

Is your carrier GSM, if you have a SIM card in your phone then it is. If not you won't be able to use the 750, unless you change carriers.

I believe that the update will be available for all 750s, but I can't be certain.

The last video clip from MDEC it was a microsoft guy showing off a 750 with wm6 beta. Dont know if it wasn ATT or vodafone or unlocked Hopefully will be for any and all

I thought 750s were only GSM?

Tell you what carpentierk, I have a sneaky feeling that wm6 will only be offered on a new device to be launched in the autumn.

I think what would be worse is that people in the US get the upgrade and the folks in the UK dont. Important, not trying to offend the guys and gals on the other side of the pond

I hope I am wrong, as some of the new functions would help build on an already brilliant device

Pretty sure both Palm and ATT have said WM6 will be free upgrade to existing 750s. As to EU folks, no clue.

almost makes it sound like it's an upgrade from Palm, so if even if you're in the UK you should be able to get it?

go to ms mobiles.com and find the posting its a guy from MS showing off wm6 devices and hes holding a treo 750 with wm6 beta I think and talking about it it was about 10dzys of so ago at mdec
