![]() | New, and I've got a few questions! I've had my delightful 650 thru Cingular forever, and I love it, but it's starting to act up (resetting itself at the drop of a hat etc). I feel the pull of new gadgetry, whispering in my ear and tugging at my wallet.... I'm debating the 680 vs the 750. I like the idea of the 750, as I had a PocketPC before my beloved 650, and the idea of broadband almost blows the 680 completely out of the water. However, I've got a few questions. In looking at the specs, the 750 has a smaller window and pixel res than the 650. Wassup wid dat? Does it affect its usability? I love the eBook capability...which brings me to another question besides screen size:If I have secure Palm ebooks, will I be able to read them on a Palm Windows-based device? I've noticed a few problems with Ringo mentioned here in my quick perusal of the forum. Is there a program out there that will deliver the same function, assignng mp3s with contacts so that I know who's who? (yeah, it's goofy, but I just LOVE that.... )So, there's my story. I haven't filled in my profile because it's going to change as soon as I make up my mind which one to go with. I want to be able to read my ebooks & use the GoogleMaps comfortably (no squinting) AND have faster access to the internet. Will the 750 be the answer to all three? And if not, is the broadband connection a bigger deal breaker than a bigger screen? By the way, is the camera any good? (didn't think I was finished, didja?) All comments, questions and howls of derision welcome.... LYN |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Regarding MP3 ringtones, you don't need a third party app on Windows Mobile, except to trim the music down to a manageable size, which you would do on your computer. The screen is a lower resolution, but works fine with Google Maps. You can probably use a palm OS emulator to run your protected eBooks, but don't quote me on it. The 3G speed is nice, provided you're in a 3G area. If not, you'll revert into a 2G data mode, which according to other forum members, is still faster than the 650's browsing. One thing that I'm somewhat disappointed about is the camera in the 750. The shutter lag is pretty bad, but it's pretty good quality. |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | I just made the move from the Treo 650 with Cingular to the Treo 750 and I am very happy with the new phone. I too had a pocket pc before the 650. I do miss the Palm OS at times. I use Styletap to use some of my old Palm programs. I haven't had the problems with my 750 that I read about on the forums. My 650 was troublefree as well. The internet speeds are fantastic with the 750. I work in UMTS area and get speeds of 900+ kps. At home the speeds are around 2-300 kps in a 3G area, still faster than the 650. I use Google Maps and don't see a difference between the 650 and 750. Danny

![]() | The shutter lag on the camera is QUITE a problem if you are looking to take pix quickly. However, the pic quality is average-- good enough for gov't work ![]() However, the multi-picture function (takes 4 or 5 pictures back to back quickly) does make it a little better. I have "explored" goglemaps on the 750, however as I only have a CF receiver -- for my Axim, I do not know how well the routing works. But, so far, I think it is adequate. I am still getting used to how much I paid for it. So if I were you, I would not make the jump from a unit I am fairly happy with without incentives from a phone company. |

![]() | So if I were you, I would not make the jump from a unit I am fairly happy with without incentives from a phone company. I have to say, you're absolutely right about that. I called Cingular, and I'm not due for an upgrade till September----and they are NOT willing to deal. I tried the old "may I speak to your supervisor", and contacting the customer retention department (having had Bellsouth/Cingular/ATT since I carried a brick phone and it was $1 a minute).I may have to keep letting my old 650 reset itself for a while till the prices head south a smidge! ![]() |

![]() | I hope the 650 folks can help you out. The 750 is a great device, but its REALLY REALLY expensive by itself. Good Luck. |
