Question Treo 750 and medical software (like epocrates)

Hi everyone! I'm about to graduate from medical school, and I've settled on getting a Treo 750 to replace my crappy palm Tungsten T5 and Moto RAZR, both of which are getting long in the tooth. I also really want to maximize my pocket space, so this choice seems best!

Anyhow, I've heard that the Treo's 240x240 screen resolution can mess with or outright break some medical software. I'm probably going to get one or two of the big name programs like Epocrates, Lexi-Comp, Tarascon, PEPID, and the like, and want to know if there are any other 750 users who use this software and can tell me what the experience is like. Any problems working, screen feels to small, treo not fast/responsive enough... any opinions you can give would be quite helpful. Thanks!

I've used some medical software, but not on WM. I came from a Lifedrive before my first Treo, and adjusted to the screen size difference quickly. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I've just started my 3rd year of med school and I have epocrates on my phone (Treo 750) and I love it! I'm having no problems with readability or speed. I totally recommend doing epocrates.

I have the Palm Treo 750. I am currently using both Epocrates and Archimedes on it and it works great. I was using the Palm T3 and a razr and didn't like that combination. I have been in practice now for about 4 years and rely quite heavily on my pda. I am also using electronic prescribing software called erxnow/allscripts.

I have the 755p and use Epocrates without problems. I also used it on my 650 and 600. I also use Micromedix, MedCalc, MedAbbr, Eponyms and an ABG converter. There are many other programs that I have used, but uninstalled because I really didn't use them. Please ask if there is a particular one you're interested in.

Smile synergize or compartmentalize

I just drowned my RAZR in the river and my current Clie is mind-numbingly slow. I'm strongly considering unifying these functions in a Treo. However, the Treo appears, from my very limited research, to not use graffiti like the old palms do. By far and away my main use of the clie is epocrates. I'm a family doc seven years into practice and any glitch in terms of using epocrates is likely to get me behind in my schedule. So my question: Is the Treo fast and efficient with epocrates or does not having the graffiti function slow you down? Should I revive the razor and upgrade to a newer PDA, or should I pay the extra cash and move to the Treo? Anyone...Bueller...

Yep it doesn't come with graffiti, although it is possible to get it to work on the Treo's, but the Treo's keyboard more than makes up for that IMHO

Agreed. I've never been a fan of writing on a screen.
