Dial tone volume extremely loud

I've got the second Treo 750v after I sold the first one 2 months ago and was hoping that maybe following bug will be fixed or that my 1st unit only had this failure:

When I start dialing a contact or a entered number -the phone application starts to dial- and if the phone volume is set to the middle level or even higher, the dialing tone is extremely loud. It is impossible to hold the Treo closed to the ear, so I must to decrease the volume.

This appears everytime when the Treo was set to higher volume even during the last call and I'm wondering whether there is any registry-hack how to decrease the overall dialing tone??

Can't say I've noticed this with mine, is this a Cingular or Vodafone 750?

Maybe but I don't have information on how.

Has any third party software been installed?

no no third party software. This must be a problem on every Treo 750v unit as this is my second and it's the same.

If that was the case then I would have expected to hear of lots of people complaining about it Mine also doesn't do it which suggests it's not a general fault.

The dial tone volume is directly related to the sound volume you have set on your Treo. Press up/down on the volume rocker and you see two sliders, one for the ringer, the other for the speaker volume.
When the speaker volume is up, touch tones are loud. When the speaker volume is down, so are the touch tones.

I don't know why, but touch tones come out the back speaker instead of the ear piece. This is a bit annoying that the touch tones are attached to the volume slider.
But this should solve your mystery.
