Google Maps on Cingular Treo 750 - Treo Forum

Hi All,

I'm a long time Treo (Palm OS) user and recently made the change to the Treo 750 (Window Mobile) with Cingular. I love the 750, but one of the programs I used often on my old 650 is Google Maps. Is there a Windows Mobile version of Google Maps? So far I have not been able to find one if there is.

If not is there any way to run Google Maps on my Treo 750?

I'd recomend using MS's Live Mobile as that will do everything Google Maps can do plus their's a native client

Google Maps does have a Java client which should work on the 750 but you'd need to install a JRE, (Java Runtime Environment), first.

I have downloaded and used the application but how do I get a shortcut or icon in my programs folder so that when I press the windows key and then select programs I can see it. I thought I pasted a shortcut there but I can't see it. Yes I am a rookie on WM5.

TazUK - Thanks much for the recommendation. Using Live Mobile and loving it. One feature I liked about Google Maps was the ability to use the space bar and some of the keys to go back, forward, next turn etc on the Treo. The only thing that seem to work on Live Mobile is the enter key. It's a pain to have to use the menu key to select features. Am I missing something or is this how it is?

DaveS - Look around a bit in the icons in the Program menu. Mine was named something like "live (2)" or something similar. It may be there, but not named what you are expecting. Too me a bit to figure it out.

To add something to the Start menu go into Settings, Personal, Menus and tick the appropriate box

Yes, Google Maps for Windows Mobile is available here
Run it on your PC and activesync it over.
