Exclamation HELP Planning on buying a Treo 700wx

Hi all after reading many forums on the 700wx i find that many of you are very knowlegable of the phone and was wondeing if any of you know if you can get a the 700wx flased to work with the cricket network. I have heard that some people have gotten a treo 650 flashed to work with cricket.

If a 650 can be flashed can a 70wx?

I hope that answers will come to my aid

Thank you all in advance

(please pardon my spelling i sometimes forget to reread my posts)

While it may be possible, I'm not aware of anyone who has done it.

It's nearly impossible to reflash a CDMA device and I don't think that the original Telecomm will give up the code to get the device opened up for another device.

Thanks for the reply!

Altho they man not want to give up any codes there was a law passed in 2007 preventing that kind of thing. If you own the phone you have the right to take it wearever you want for service and they are legal obegated to do so. (at least i think thats how it went DO NOT TAKE THAT FOR GOSPAL!!)

That is the case for GSM networks, but CDMA networks are a bit different. It's much easier to unlock a GSM phone and pop the SIM in from a different carrier and you're almost always good to go.

I'm not entirely sure about that law stating cell providers have to let you use whatever device you want(within technological bounds) on their network, especially judging by the number of posts on this and other sites about folks trying to take their devices from one network to another. Besides, if that were the case, you should be able to buy an iPhone (why you would want to, I don't know) and activate it on a rival network. The law that I am aware of is the one allowing you to take your number to whatever provider you want. Then again, I could be totally missing the boat on this one.

Legally, cell companies, at least on GSM networks have to unlock a phone for a customer after 90 days of a contract have passed. However, this can be negated via a EULA, which is how the iPhone gets away with it in the US.
