| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Stupid Keypad I replaced my housing on my Treo, voiding my warranty. Just to put that out there. So I replaced the housing, all good. I decided to go back and put the old housing on. Some keys got stuck, so I tried to pry them out, puncturing the PCB board. I replaced both the plastic keys AND the PCB board. Here's my trouble. When I originally ruined the PCB board, it punctured the R and E keys, so I couldn't use them. I got a new PCB board, and all the keys on the top row don't work!! What is wrong here?! |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Also, I have tried both a hard and soft reset. There is no problem with dust/lint because I have manually pressed the humps on the PCB board with no avail. I have reset the ribbon cable many times. I voided my warranty when I replaced the board. What should I do? Am I SOL? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You've done every thing I can suggest. Reseating the ribbon cable usually does it.

![]() ![]() | JDawssk8er98, Hi there, and welcome to treonauts! I was wondering if the pcb got flattened somehow. I read somewhere (I can't find where again, sorry) where someone had a similar problem, and they flexed the little metal piece that makes contact with the key, until it was more "dome shaped", and so made contact with the key(s). Sometimes, too, I understand that inserting the ribbon cable in far enough can be a problem. Then again, maybe jfa is on the right track, and it's a bad board. Anyhow, I sure hope you get it fixed..what a bummer. |
