Treo 700w Headset and Voice Command

I happen to click the button on my Treo 700W headset and to my surprise it turned on Voice Command. I was able to make voice command phone calls from my headset. I made 3 calls in this manner and then it stopped working. Is this a function that is supposed to work or was this a bug in the system?

Has anyone else had this happen? It is a nice feature if it would work all of the time. Currently I have the side button assigned to Voice Command.

Added comment: 09/15/06 - If you experience this problem do a "hard reset" and that should fix it.

Added comment: 09/21/06 - the Hard Reset didn't permanantly fix it - Now Verizon is sending me a new replacement 700w. I hope this one works better.

Added comment: 10/02/06 - I receiveved the new Treo 700w and set it up exactly the same way as the old one; Voice Command enabled and Phone option only checked. I assigned the Side Button to the Voice Command program. Using the head set button on the headset to activate Voice Command worked for a while and then quit again requiring a hard reset. The side button always works, but the headset button fails. Then I thought hmmm, maybe the Side Button was conflicting with the headset button. I unassigned the Side Button from the Voice Command. A big difference! Now, the headset button activates Voice Command for telephone calls almost perfectly. It still crashes , but only rarely now. Also, don't use Keyguard. I think this also will conflict with the Headset button when using Voice Command. And don't expect any help from Palm tech support when it comes to fixing this problem. The Palm tech support person I spoke to didn't even have a headset available to replicate the problem! Go Figure! I guess we are on the Bleeding Edge with this one folks.

I have not been able to get my 700wx to work this way. In fact, Sprint states in the manual that activating voice command from the BT does not work. Is there a difference between the 700w and the 700wx regarding this feature?

Now there is a experience I had that appeared to be a sort of oxymoron... Palm and support together in the same sentence is laughable...

Jilted Steph? lol, yes. I've had several issues concerning my wx ie; IR Port wouldn't work, along with the BT even on it wouldn't work. Called Palm and all they could come up with was "call sprint. They will be able to help you". And of course, Sprint was of no use lol. The eventual fix was an exchange for a "new phone".....

Does anyone have Sprint's $5.00 Voice Command on their wx? If so, do the commands on Sprint's service work through BT? I know there is no reason to pay the $5.00 each month with Microsoft's Voice Command, but if this works, I may be willing to pay the monthly fee.

This program is really horrible. The program always asks me to repeat what I'm saying and is incredibly hard to get it to dial numbers from my contact list. I have tested it in a quiet environment and not using bluetooth headset. I am using v1.5 which came with the unit. This version doesn't support bluetooth anyway but it's a completely useless piece of software. 2 Hard resets later, I have disabled it. I had back to back application errors the last time which resulted in vicious data loss, because I was working on a report which was time critical for work. Unbelievable. . .

Are you saying I will be able to use my Bluetooth Headset to make calls with the updated version 1.6? (1.5 does not) On Handango's site they are unclear and, like so many, just say to talk to Microsoft (as if) for answers. They say it is "compatible" with my 700wx, but that word seems to be very loosely defined amongst software providers. I happy to pay for the product, however, I need it to do what is expected, and in this case, I need to be able to touch the button on my Jabra BT250v and have the Treo 700wx respond by allowing me to place a call by voice.

That being said, and assuming the bluetooth will work OK with this new version, will the button on the headset override the "sleep mode" the Treo goes into where normally a button on the handset needs to be pushed?
