How to suppress Outlook notifications?

Hi all - i'm new to the forums, so apologies if this is a naive question.

Is there anyway to suppress the beep / vibration notifications you get upon receiving Outlook messages, but continue to get these notification for texts? I recently set up my Treo to sync with my work email account using Outlook / Microsoft exchange, and now my phone buzzes every 5 minutes with each new email, which is driving me nuts!

Many thanks,
Peter

Hi Peter, welcome to Treonauts, it sure is great to have you with us. Hope you enjoy your time here. These guys are the best. Just a suggestion for the volume issues.
Try, settings>sounds & notifications>events. In the events window, scroll down to select which events you wish to have notifications. You can also just turn down the sound of all notifications on left side of device. There are two buttons near the top. Hit the second one down a few times to turn down the volume. Sometimes, you just might get sick of all the racket and turn off sound altogether.
Although it's none of my business, perhaps you would reconsider syncing every 5 minutes. If you really want to check your emails, you CAN just do a manual sync. I only sync a few times a day using the auto schedule. I sync manually only when I'm dying to hear the latest gossip from work. Saves a LOT of battery!

Thanks! I'm going to go with the manual sync suggestion. This is great. I didn't see that the events window allowed you to scroll down and select each event. Many thanks!
