i need yall to reccomend software for my 700w - Treo Forum

hey guys, my dad bought a 700w off ebay,m and then gave it to me, so although i can use the phone, there isnt much i can do with it without any otf the software.

im looking for software for ringtones, like, making my own, i can sync hte music into my media player, but thats about it, also i got the activesync from palm.com but i wasnt sure what other programs were supposed to come along with it, or if there was any that didnt come that yall reccomend,

welcome to treonauts nikki. The phone should be ready to use when you get it activated with VZN. Not sure about any extra programs on the installation cd I have the 750 and it came with sprite backup and the basic ereder and some other stuff. You might find the cd on ebay or VZN might sell you one or i you know someone with the same device maybe you could borrow their cd. ringtones you can rip yourself but you need to cut the size of the down . Not sure how to do that as I just use the ringtones that came with the 750. Good luck!

The 700w can use MP3's/WMA's for ringtones so any of your songs will do, you might want to reduce the quality and just take the beginning of the song to keep the file size down.

A good source for ringtones is phonezoo.com. There's boatloads of ringtones and they're free, since they're all user created. All you do is set up an account w/ your phone info and #. When you want to d/l, phonezoo sends the link via SMS.

As for other software, kinda depends on what you want to do with your device. I will say that you need to be somewhat selective, as the 700W only has 64MB memory vs the 128 that the WX has. A backup program is certainly a must have. Three good ones are SPB Backup, Resco Backup and Sprite. You can also use DashWire (Free mobile phone contact, photo, video and text message backup :: Dashwire) to backup your phone on line. Dashwire is free, but will only backup SMS, PIM info, pix and video. A program such as SPB Backup will backup your entire phone. Check ppcgeeks.com or wmexperts.com for all things Windows Mobile
